UPDATE: RESPONSE TO MANAGEMENT
Thank you for your response, though I must admit it only adds to my frustration.
Regarding your statement that "The omelette is officially served until 5 PM," this simply reiterates the policy without addressing the fundamental question I raised in my original review: Why is this specific, admittedly simple dish singled out and unavailable after 5 PM, when numerous other, significantly more complicated menu items are readily available throughout the evening? Providing the policy itself is not a justifiable rationale or response.
What truly disappoints me, however, is your claim that "on the few occasions you were able to get it after that time, it was specially prepared as an exception just for you." This statement is demonstrably false and deeply misleading. I have meticulously tracked my Uber Eats order history, and on the vast majority of occasions, I ordered the omelette well after 5 PM without any special intervention or "exceptions." It was simply available online, and I ordered it like any other menu item.
Here is a partial log of my orders placed after 5 PM, all made readily available to me through your Uber Eats menu, without requiring an exception, unless explicitly noted:
*April 13th at 8:35 PM *April 17th at 8:45 PM *April 19th at 8:20 PM *April 20th at 8:13 PM *May 1st at 5:13 PM *May 5th at 6:09 PM *May 12th at 6:51 PM *May 13th at 8:05 PM (This was the single occasion where I called, and an exception was kindly made after I regularly ordered it past 5 PM for weeks, and it suddenly became unavailable online.) *May 15th at 8:47 PM *May 22nd at 5:22 PM *May 23rd at 5:18 PM *May 24th at 8:08 PM *May 26th at 8:58 PM *May 27th at 8:30 PM *May 30th at 8:45 PM *June 3rd at 5:16 PM *June 5th at 8:46 PM *June 11th at 5:12 PM
That's at least 17 separate occasions where the omelette was easily available to me (not including the numerous other times I checked the app but it was unavailable, or called to no avail). These instances clearly demonstrate that your kitchen is well capable of preparing the omelette after 5 PM, which makes its arbitrary unavailability on other spontaneous days even more baffling and directly contradicts your assertion of "few occasions" & "special exceptions."
My frustration stems precisely from this inconsistency and the lack of a genuine explanation. This arbitrary on-again, off-again availability has, especially lately, almost exclusively meant the omelette is unavailable in the evenings. Quite frankly, it feels as though, ever since I began vocally advocating for its consistent availability, the policy has been more rigidly and deliberately enforced against evening orders, despite your clear capability. This makes it impossible for a loyal customer like myself to rely on your restaurant.
To be unequivocally clear: it remains baffling why you are perfectly capable of preparing intricate dishes like shawarma and kebabs well into the evening, yet inexplicably consistently refuse to make a simple omelette. By arbitrarily making it unavailable, you are quite literally choosing to turn away a dedicated, paying customer almost every single day.
By adhering to this inexplicable policy, you are not only frustrating and alienating a regular customer who would happily order from you nearly every day, but you are also actively hurting your own business. I've clearly demonstrated my value as a frequent, repeat customer for this specific item. It is a shame to lose such loyalty over what remains an entirely unjustified and contradictory operational choice. And frankly, it's hard to understand the business logic here; the more a loyal customer wants to order a popular item, the more it seems to be denied. That just doesn't make sense.
Therefore, the solution is not for your "staff to communicate this policy more clearly moving forward". The solution is simply to discontinue this nonsensical and unreasonable policy altogether, and make the omelette consistently available at all hours, as you've clearly proven capable of doing. I genuinely hope...
Read moreI'm writing this review as a frequent and deeply appreciative customer of your restaurant, particularly for your amazing cheddar cheese omelette – it's truly one of the best I've ever had! I've relied on it almost daily, especially in the evenings, for a long time now.
However, I'm genuinely puzzled and disappointed by your inconsistent and inexplicable policy regarding the omelette's availability after 5 PM. It's become a frustrating guessing game: I can order any other complex item at night, but whether the omelette is available is often a hit or miss, despite an employee admitting it's a "simple" item to make. As a vegetarian, this is the only dish I love and consistently rely on from your restaurant. In fact, this uncertainty has directly prevented me from ordering from you for days now, despite checking daily, as my most convenient time to order is in the evenings.
The explanations provided by your staff have been shockingly inconsistent and illogical. For example, just today at 5:11 PM, I called because the omelette was unavailable, and was told by an employee that "the chef left." This directly contradicts what I was previously assured – that you have two or three chefs capable of preparing this item. Other past reasons have ranged from "too busy" (yet other items are fine), to claims of "running out of ingredients," to this repeated "chef left" excuse. None of these reasons add up or are consistently applied.
As a deeply disappointed and regular customer who depends on this item, I find this policy arbitrary and customer-unfriendly. It directly impacts loyal customers who depend on specific items. The lack of a coherent reason and the conflicting information from your staff only add to the frustration. Unless this policy is reversed, I, unfortunately, won't be able to continue ordering from your establishment, as the most convenient times for me are precisely when you often refuse to serve the one thing I consistently order. I sincerely hope you'll reconsider this nonsensical and unreasonable policy and make the omelette available at all hours. It would be a shame to lose a regular customer over what seems like a truly unnecessary limitation.
My 3-star rating breaks down as follows: • 5 stars for the food. • 1 star for this nonsensical and...
Read moreI hate giving a negative review since I fully understand how critical positive reviews are for business owners. However this one is warranted and hope adjustments will be made following my observations: The good: Place looks great, very clean and the staff is friendly! Very pleasant and welcoming experience. The bad I ordered my meal through the self order station. I wanted a kebab platter (mind you, this is a kebab place, similar palaces are almost on every block in NYC and the menus/dishes are all similar) so I selected lamb kebab for $11.99. I thought it was too good of a price, even for a small platter. I paid and went over to the cashier and asked what comes with it. Cashier lady politely let me know that that's only the meat. Basically everything is a la carte (that was NOT indicated in the automated self order station) So, I asked to get some rice, salad and red cabbage on the side. That came up to an additional ~$10. As you can see in the picture, for ~$20 I got very little meat, very little salad, very little rice and cabbage. This was the smallest portion I ever got in any kebab place by far and paid the price that other places charge for a large portion. To the owner: please add descriptions in the self order station for the customer of what exactly is being ordered. If I would not have asked, I would have just got few tiny pieces of kebab for $11. I think with so much competition for same dishes, the portions should be bigger to at least complete with other places, such as the one that is up the block. I would come back to try the wrap, and would be curious if its the same case of paying for every topping separately. Hope not, that would...
