Gourmet Garden Market — Local services in New York

I’ve been shopping here about a month. Good selection of food. The place is very clean and well stocked. I’d just like to make a little warning....

1. despite the grill being very good, I don’t recommend buying cold cuts from the place (the cold cuts had a strange taste and despite returning the next day, with my receipt for an exchange, they refused to exchange or refund me).
2. any items on sale (with a bright orange or red sticker on it), be very careful of! I brought mozzarella cheese that was listed for $4.49. I got sick not too long later (stomach aches and etc).
3. please check expiration dates on all items (for some reason this area, Flatbush, the stores like to pawn off bad food).
4. check the prices! I went in once for a 5 piece mozzarella plate and was charged 5.99. When I went in another time they only charge me...

We’ve been buying stuff from them from last 6 months. I’ve reached my tipping point for their items that are stored in fridge and their milks. Every time we buy their stuff, the milks, eggs and anything in fridge goes bad before expiration date! How? Because they leave their stuff that’s suppose to be cold outside for too long and put it back in fridge to be re-freezed or recold. I’ve spent more than $500 at their shops this entire year but almost 20% of our food had gotten bad. Sad to say but to protect our health, we won’t be coming here anymore. They really need to take care of their items. You’re better off going to an actual grocery store...

Months ago I stumbled upon this place because the urban (ahem ghetto) supermarket across the street didn't have organic coconut oil. I've been frequent consumer since. This place is clean, well organized and the counter guys are great.

This is my go to place for fresh juices. I have also had salads, smoothies, breakfast, hot and cold sandwiches. The chopped cheese is pretty good. They also have voodoo potato chips which many stores around here don't carry. I would give them 5 stars but their french fries are not good.
