Parkside Chemists: A Reminder of What We Deserve

I don’t typically write reviews—maybe once a year, if that—but I couldn’t let this experience go unmentioned. I stopped by Parkside Chemists today while in a rush, worried about my parking since finding a good spot in that area is always a challenge. I was fully prepared for a quick in-and-out trip, the kind of transaction I’ve come to expect from chain pharmacies like CVS or Walgreens.

But something about this visit made me pause. The warmth, the genuine care, and the effortless customer service caught me off guard in the best way. It wasn’t just about filling a prescription; I actually felt seen. After getting back to my car, I sat there for a moment, realizing how much we’ve been conditioned to tolerate the impersonal, rushed experience of big retailers.

Although this isn’t my local pharmacy, it’s right next to my doctor’s office, and they’ve absolutely won me over. From now on, any prescriptions I have will be sent here. It didn’t take much—just real, human-centered service—to remind me why local businesses...

I was all for this pharmacy and their convenient delivery service that they’ve provided me up until today. I had a prescription coming in and immediately let them know same day (today). The urgency in all of this is that I am moving across the country and can’t/couldn’t leave without it. Sure enough I have two ladies, TWO LADIES, ( two only because it was I who took the initiative to call a second time) and tell me they’d get back to me as soon as possible to further discuss the delievery of my prescription sent out or released to a different pharmacy I had in mind. Not once did I receive a call back. For 4 hours straight I have been calling relentlessly so desperate for someone to pick up the darn phone but sure enough that was not the case. Because of the lack of professionalism and lack of urgency over the situation my alternate pharmacy is/was not able to issue me my medication so I will be officially leaving the country without what I need most.

Terrible....

EDIT: 3 times was the charm. Got my medicine, a direct apology and a free lotion bottle as a sorry.

First time using them and I’ve had an awful experience with the delivery. Took a day off work and they informed me an hour before delivery that it wouldn’t be coming anymore but they assured me it would come the next day. So I took another last minute day from home then somebody calls to inform it’ll actually come 5 days later. Later in the day another person calls to assure it’ll actually come today — I spend the whole day at home and I still haven’t received it (it’s almost 11pm). If it can’t be delivered, that’s fine, I don’t expect anyone to be a magician. But please respect customers’ time and allow them to find alternate options to get their medicine in case it’s urgent (even though you guys have great discounts, I have to say). I hate writing negative reviews but medicine is important so I felt the need to share. I still don’t have...
