The Reef Shoppe — Local services in New York

I am very disappointed with this store because of how inconsistent and unprofessional they have been. It's annoying because there aren't many reputable reef shops in the area. There has been two instances where the store does not have the item I want and so the owner offers to order the item for me and we agree on the date that I pickup. However, when I go to the store it's closed and I call multiple times and the phone doesn't ring so I stay nearby the area and call throughout that time. In the end, the owner never picks up the phone and doesn't call me back. FYI it seems like the store is not open on Wednesdays even though the owner often confirms himself that they are only closed on Tuesdays. There was also another instance where I called to pick up an item and we agreed that I'd be there before they close. I got there an hour before they close and there was no one there. I have bought a coral frag there but it ended up bringing aiptasia into my tank (Coral dip usually doesn't kill aiptasia)so buy with caution. So far I have only wasted my time trying to buy...

This store has a great selection of fish to pick from and the quality of the fish sold is top notch with prices that are by far the best prices on saltwater fish I have ever seen anywhere the employees are very helpful with customer service and will take the time to teach you things they learned from there experience in the hobby the first time I have ever seen an honest salesman most stores will lie to move the stock but THEREEFSHOPPE was 100% straight forward with me even if I didn't like what I heard they kept it straight and really wanted my tank to thrive with informing me that some fish I wanted were not gonna do well with fish I already have Hands down the best shop with the BEST prices...

I went here yesterday for the first time and it was the best Lfs that I have been to around my way. Anthony was a pleasure to speak with; I purchased a rainbow anemone. The tanks were sparkling clean, corals, fish, everything looked beautiful. I even saw a clownfish that wasn’t doing to well and they had immediately placed it in a quarantine cube (which I have never seen).
