If the descent into dystopia isn’t happening quickly enough for your microplastics-clogged brain tubes, then book yourself some quality time in the antiseptic corridors of Pod Brooklyn. This place will have you feeling like life under the dominion of the panopticon ain’t so bad. Personal fave is a single Facebook marketplace Keurig (see photo) for all 200 guests faithfully removed from lobby at 11 am daily. Other hits are old clock with original iPod connector cable as well as two types of charging cables that maybe definitely won’t steal all your data, two exhaust fans (one sink, one for toilet/shower) that never turn on, and elaborate steal shudders that aren’t anywhere near room-darkening, and “interminable restaurant remodel”, wherein new resto installation across giant swaths of common areas, including both rooftop decks, the only ones with views of both the Manhattan and Brooklyn skylines, are closed (don’t let them try to smooth talk you into believing the only open one makes up for it; it has a view of nearly nothing. Nothing!). All this can be yours for the low price of around $2000 per week. The sometimes scarily alert staff is very responsive, but not having any of your bullshit. Keep in mind they are also powerless under the panopticon and whoever owns this slice of soft horror. So be nice. But also don’t let them boss you.

I typically stay at Hiltons or Marriotts, but for this visit to see my daughter in Brooklyn, she recommended I stay in the Williamsburg area and honestly, this was the least expensive hotel with good reviews, so I decided to try it. What a delightful surprise! It was modern and clean as described, and in the heart of everything in Williamsburg. The room was the biggest surprise because it was so tiny, as my daughter said, it was like staying in a camper, or a college dorm room-LOL! The toilet & shower were in the same space, the sink was itty-bitty and there was just enough room to walk around (especially as a petite woman), but it all worked, and my daughter even stayed with me one night. And most importantly, the bed was very comfortable. I can't say enough about the absolutely delightful and lovely outdoor spaces. There are beautiful gardens, sitting areas and open spaces throughout the "campus" (it is like a college building), all connected with easily accessible walkways--I loved exploring it all. They are opening a restaurant and incredible rooftop bar this summer, so it's only getting better (we peeked in). We loved the staff too; it was like saying goodbye to old friends when we left. This is not your typical hotel but don't let that stop you from staying there--I can't wait to go back!

My absolute biggest hygiene concern was definitely the toilet in the shower. I have never in my life seen anything like it, I was shocked and baffled all at once. I don’t know who thought of designing it that way. I mean seriously, I understand it’s a pod hotel but a toilet in the shower is absolutely preposterous. As you can see in the video, once you shower your toilet is SOAKED. The hotel had a lot of courtyards, I think they could have used that space for a better bathroom design. I’m honestly still in disbelief. This hotel had a lot of pros and cons that left me conflicted on how I feel about my experience there. Pros: Location, some amenities, late check out, pet friendly without the dumb weight limit, does not smell like other pet friendly hotels. Cons: Toilet in the shower, prison style windows, no refrigerator, no iron. My original room was very dusty, there was long curly hair wrapped on two out of my 3 towels. They were very quick to change me to a different room and it was in a much better condition. I like that they have bikes available for use as well as umbrellas for rainy days. The staff was nice and overall the hotel has nice common areas. For being a pet friendly hotel, it’s mostly clean.

My experience at Pod Brooklyn was quite disappointing and did not meet even the most basic expectations. I stayed there for a few days with my mother after having to change hotels, and although the staff were initially attentive and the room was clean, several aspects made our stay uncomfortable and unsatisfactory.

First, the room. Upon entering, I was shocked by how small it was: such a tiny space that we could barely open two small suitcases on the floor without completely blocking the walkway. The bed, supposedly a “double king,” was clearly insufficient for two people. However, the most surprising thing was the shower: it was literally on top of the toilet. I had to shower with the toilet under my feet and had to push the toilet paper inside to prevent it from getting wet. I have never experienced anything so uncomfortable in a hotel. Frankly, the room seemed designed for one person, not two.

If that wasn’t enough, at check-in, they charged me $90 on my card as a deposit for possible damages to the room. This type of practice is not common, and I expected the amount to be refunded immediately upon checkout, as it should be. However, on the day of our departure, I was told at reception that they couldn’t refund the money immediately because the cleaning staff needed to verify that nothing in the room was damaged. I asked for written confirmation that the amount would be refunded, but after a long wait, they only gave me a receipt showing the charges. To my surprise, this was not a hold but a direct charge, and nowhere on the receipt did it state that the money would be refunded. This seemed absurd to me, given the limited space and condition of the room—what could possibly be damaged in a space of barely a few square meters?

One positive aspect of the hotel was the complimentary coffee offered in the lobby every morning, which was a nice touch, although there was no breakfast service. However, this small gesture didn’t make up for the overall discomfort.

What frustrated me the most was having to return to my country without knowing if the $90 would be refunded or if they would claim that something was damaged. Eventually, I got my money back, but it wasn’t until a week later, which I found unacceptable.

In conclusion, between the conditions of the room and the inconvenience of having the deposit (or in this case, a direct charge) withheld for so many days, my experience at Pod Brooklyn was disappointing. I would not recommend this hotel, especially if you are traveling with someone or expect a minimum level of comfort. I would only recommend it for young people who don’t spend much time in...

I loved my stay at the Pod Brooklyn hotel. My amazing boyfriend planned a romantic night in the east village and decided to book this hotel so we didn't have to drive home under the influence. The hotel is in Williamsburg near some of my favorite vegan restaurants. Check-out is at noon which is amazing. I wish every hotel did noon checkout. It was enough time for us to get ready and walk to a restaurant for breakfast. We even had time to come back...pack up and watch tv. They also had some great channels....even several sports channels. The tv was pretty small but so is the room. Dude it's called POD for a reason so don't expect space. when I was looking at the reviews someone said don't go to this hotel with someone you don't like and I completely agree. if you are having issues with your partner stay somewhere else. the lack of space makes you super intimate with your parent. There is a shower toilet! That is right, to save space there is a toilet in your shower. So I suggest that everyone takes a shower around the same time or you will end up with a wet hotel floor at random times of the day. Another thing you might want to know is that Pod has a lot of deals with neighborhood businesses. So look at their website and see who they have deals with. You may get 10% off more at a local restaurant just by letting them know you are a guest of POD. I think there is 15% off at a liquor store, a discount for a nail salon, etc. Oh, and there is a parking garage next door! if you get your parking validated it's $25 overnight...I think they even gave us an additional 2 dollars off. it was so cheap I didn't mind leaving my car there. Personally would not stay in this hotel (as a couple) for no more than 2 days. if you are by yourself it's doable to stay longer, especially if it's just a place to lay your head. We stayed for one night and that was perfect for us. it's was valentine's date night so we enjoyed the intimacy the room provided. I would have given the place five stars if I haven't found footprints on the shower glass. It looked like someone else had fun in the shower..good for them. However, the bathroom should have been cleaned better, for the new guests. I thought the experience would have ruined my night but I didn't let it. Lucky for me it was the only place that seemed to...

All of the reviews that are giving this place 1 star obviously didn't do an ounce of research into the hotel they were booking. It is plainly stated on their website that the rooms are small. All of The Pod locations, the rooms are small. The point is minimalistic lodging that is smart about utalizing space. This is perfect for places like Brooklyn where you're not going to be in your room for long periods, except to sleep. There is nothing wrong with the fact that the shower is in the same space as the toilet. The shower itself is very refreshing, with a rainfall type overhead showerhead. They provide you with full bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash all of which smell amazing. The mattresses they use are comfy.

Me and my husband had a minor inconvenience with the room we booked, it was nothing super major but we did bring it up to the front desk attendant because we didn't want to be blamed for the issue. The front desk person noted the room number, and asked us if we wanted to change rooms. We would have been fine staying in our original room but the offer to change rooms was given without even asking so we took the opportunity. The new room given to us was an upgrade from our previous room, and was perfect. Front desk staff was super professional and helpful. If you have a problem with your room, just treat the staff politely and they will be happy to take care of you.

We were there for a concert, and came back to the hotel late. There was security at the door who simply asked to see a room key as proof that we are guests before letting us in. He was very polite and patient, and even flashed a welcoming smile as we were let in. I honestly felt a lot more secure staying here because of security presence making sure people who enter late at night are guests.

We have stayed in The Pod across several major cities and each time has been a positive experience. The Pod at Brooklyn is continuing that streak of positive...
