I have started collecting again with my son's. We do a Payday ritual where we bounce from game store to game store to find our picks of the week. Well...their picks of the week. I kinda do battle for an hour until I pick what I want on a whim, lol. It is bonding time for us. The highlight of our week.
Anyway, VGG is a new stop for us and an instant favorite. Customer service is honestly very important to us and they always deliver the best and make us feel at home. We like to know that the people we are buying from give a damn. They are ultimately running a business and profitability is key, but to interact with customers and make suggestions. To crack jokes and talk shop. That is what makes a game store an experience. Any shop, really. Obviously can't be done when ten people are in line waiting. We are the types to buy and bounce in that scenario. Out of respect for the rush and the folks in line. Understandable. Even then, I'm sure we would get a smile, some eye contact and a thanks from VGG.
As for other places...when nobody is in the store and you have nothing but time, yet you act like it's the last place on Earth you want to be working at?...Pack it up and pass the torch to Video Game Galaxy. I won't smear a business by naming names, but some of y'all are probably nodding in agreement....
Video Game Galaxy is our number one spot after only a few trips. These guys are doing it right! Not sure if the guys who sit behind the counter own the joint or are employees, but they are leaps and bounds beyond the incompetent, uncaring, glassy eyed stoner fools that treat you like an annoyance elsewhere. I bust my knuckles every day at work to spend money on retro games and pay my bills. I share the spoils of my labor with my boys through gaming and the experience of the hunt, lol.
Also, the store is super clean and very well organized. I dig that. Spreading the good word, fellas. Hoping y'all become the new staple of our twin cities....because some of these fools done lost their way, lol. See ya next payday!

Read moreBeware of new in box goods, they sold me a counterfeit Sony Dualshock 4 controller as "new" and "official" on their ebay store. Came in a very convincing box, looked legit, thought it was odd that it wasn't behaving right under linux but chalked that up to linux weirdness. Began having issues with the right trigger and contacted Sony since it was sold as a NIB item. Was told it was counterfeit. Paid nearly full MSRP for it and about what the going online store price was at the time, and am beyond the eBay return/contest window. So yay, I guess they really pulled one over on me.
Not only are these counterfeit controllers of lesser quality and prone to weird issues, but the cheap battery packs used in them could be dangerous. Absolutely not worth the risk, and I would seriously question any other purchase from those who sell counterfeit products as new...
Read moreVideo Game Galaxy is a pretty neat little shop. All kinds of retro games and toys. It was a nice touch for them to have an area of the shop for people to try out a VR system they have set up. Not a great selection as far as newer current generation titles but they havnt been open too long so maybe this will change. Staff have all been very knowledgeable and curtious everytime I've stopped by to visit. The one thing I'd have to ding them on is the quality of some of their used stock. They do offer returns on defective games and equipment within so many days with receipt. However a few of the ps2 games I've picked up here for my collection were beyond repair. All in all I would not let that prevent me from going back. Would recommend, it's always good to support your...
