I was speaking to Daniel via text and a phone conversation regarding a truck that I was interested in for 2 days. I let him know that I had a vehicle I would be trading in and that I would also be coming from an hour and a half away so would be pushing it to make it by the time they closed, he stated he could stay after and it wouldn’t be a problem. I provided all the necessary information needed beforehand so he could run my credit and would bring pay stubs and a bank statement with me when we met in person. He assured me that after talking with his boss they would definitely be able to put a deal together for me. We set up a time for me to come in and look/drive the vehicle, during that time we texted several times and I let him know how far I was driving once again and I provided him with an ETA right before I left, he returned my text with Thank you!! We drove the hour and 30minutes just for him to greet us by telling us that someone had just signed on the vehicle. He apologized and said that they do not do holds. Ofcourse we were very frustrated as he never once had mentioned that day that someone else was looking at the vehicle and for anyone that has ever purchased a vehicle from a dealership you know how long it takes to do so. Hours! He could have had the decency to inform us of the situation. He knew that a deal was being made well before I texted him and said we were on our way! He said “well, if I would have told you then what would you have done” we would not have wasted 3 hours of our evening driving to look at a vehicle that was potentially sold! When him and I first started talking I let him know that I didn’t want either of our time to be wasted and that’s exactly what he did. He was like “well, what if we can get you into something different” I saw their inventory and did not want anything else they had, I wanted the truck that I inquired about, that is why I drove an hour and a half after working all day to see it. He proceeded to bring us over to a rusty “similar” truck that was $5k more. We told him “no thank you and after what just happened we would never give you our business.” Communication is key, if he would have been open and honest about the situation I would have been understanding but to me it just seems like he was trying to make another deal by selling me something different. If I wanted the rusty truck he brought me over to I would have asked about it to begin with. When I went to leave him a “rate this seller” review on messenger he had blocked me so I was unable to do so. Clearly he had a guilty conscience. Terrible business practice all around, I would never recommend...
Read moreI had heard positive feedback concerning service at Newaygo Auto Sales and Service howevermy experience was the opposite. I am very experienced in automotive mechanical functions and issues however I choose to let the " professionals " do the work to insure my 2014 remains in top running order. In March 2024 my Silverado developed a common issue with the temperature control sensor and that even though it was an easy fix I elected to have it replaced along with the thermostat ( which is often recommended). I am aware of the cost of materials as well as labor how ever it is very obvious that Newaygo Service was out for the max that they could get from their customers. When the service was completed, I paid my bill without objection. However, I barely got out of the lot when my service light came on . I return to the shop and was told that because there was fuel in the oil , I needed the fuel pump replaced and the cost would be well over $1,000. Needless to say, I did further research including getting several opinions from other shops who were very surprised what Newaygo Service had diagnosed. Of course, I did not mention the fuel pump until after the second opinions were given.
Since March 2024 ( it's now June) my oil level has remained the same after changing it right after leaving Newaygo Service and no further service has been required. This was clearly a failed attempt to defraud a potential new customer out of greed for a quick buck.
My advice is to stay away from this business at all cost. At least at a casino, there us a chance to get something back...
Read moreI recently accompanied my younger brother, who has disabilities, to purchase a vehicle from this establishment. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely negative and deeply concerning.
Within just one day of ownership, the car exhibited numerous serious problems, including:
Bad brakes and rotors
Bald tires
A slipping transmission
A non-functioning gas gauge
A moonroof that did not open
As someone who has worked in the automotive industry for several years, including serving as a General Manager of an auto sales company, I understand the importance of customer satisfaction and safety. In my experience, I always did everything possible to resolve issues and ensure customers left feeling confident in their purchase.
When we raised these issues, however, the owner became defensive and hostile. Instead of addressing the problems professionally, he threw papers at both my brother and me when we asked for a refund. Initially, he even acted as if he would not return the money. Only after further confrontation did he agree, but he slammed the cash—$22,000—on the table in a disrespectful manner. When I asked if he had a counting machine, he replied, “Not for you.” I then had to count the money myself before leaving.
This behavior was completely unprofessional and unacceptable. No customer should ever be treated this way, especially when dealing with such a large purchase. Given this experience, I cannot recommend this dealership to anyone. I fully intend to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau so that others are aware of...
