I have to question the state of mind of anyone who left a negative review for this place. This is my favorite shop in Newport.
I first stopped in a little over 2 years ago when they were newly opened, just for a coffee since a friend and I had gotten coffee elsewhere on the way into Newport and our orders had gotten messed up. I only owned 1 record at the time but was considering jumping into building a collection. The coffee they serve in the back of this place is absolutely delicious, and the three brothers who run it are great people. At first the coffee was what I kept returning for (there was seating in the back to enjoy it pre-pandemic and they always have music on), but I've also bought most of my almost 60 records now from here and had brought in a turntable for minor repairs as well. Many of those records they ordered for me at my request - not that their selection isn't REALLY solid on its own (both newer and older music and multiple genres) but if you want something they don't have, they will gladly try to get it in for you. I've even gotten recommendations for record stores to visit when going out of town from these guys (and they have been great suggestions so far as well).
I've been a regular for most of the past 2 years and I will continue to be as long as this place stays open. Was surprised when I realized I hadn't left a review saying as much already, but better...
Read moreThis is one of my favorite record shops in the area! I’ve been going semi-regularly for the past couple of years and I’ve probably bought a dozen or more records from here. I usually have a hard time finding the albums I want in used condition, but they keep their used selection well stocked. They’ve got a new selection to match it in both size and diversity as well. Prices are fair and the owners are nice; I see Jeff most times I visit. If you’re making a day of record store hopping, or just passing by, visiting Jet Age is a must. Overall, easily one of the most organized, accessible, and affordable record stores I go to. I almost always walk out with a...
Read moreI visited Jet Age records on a Tuesday afternoon and found myself as the only customer, which is typical. Its a great place to freely search through all of the vinyl merchandise, and converse with the clerk. Very laid back atmosphere. I love that they place music loud enough to hear up and down the block when you are walking on the sidewalk. I wish they had a bit more selection of records, but the variety is usually enough to meet my personal needs. I bought a Pearl Jam record and a Major Laser record for about 25 bucks. Biggest genre they have is alternative and classic...
