Homewood suites is the newest addition to Newport. It's in the same plaza as the mega Corp pavilion, the stage showcases the hottest music today. They are still building the area up, no stores or shops yet. Eventually though it will be everything literally at your step when you stay at Homewood. The hotel is brand new. Entrance is a little confusing and not clearly marked. The staff, Dee Dee and the third shift young lady (I forgot her name..sorry) were extremely welcoming and so sweet. The rooms were brand new. Nice to have a stove to cook on and fully stocked pans and dishes. Saves a lot of money cooking. The hotel was bland and poorly planned. The walls are paper thin. Because the floors were a cheap vinyl job you could hear the clack clack of whoever was above us walking around. I could literally hear my neighbors conversation though the wall as well. The door automatically didn't lock behind when we left the room. Which I didn't check the first time or two leaving the room. Which put our things at risk. They did offer to move us as there was no maintenance working. When I informed them. But it was late and I didn't go any where else anyway. The morning at 830 there was a knock on the door. I get up to see who it was..and it was the maid. Just knocking on the door at 830 despite the privacy sign being out. She was seeing if anyone was in the room. Weird. The breakfast is 8 to 10 on weekends which I missed. Then Monday I go to breakfast at 930 and it's all finished. 8 to 930 through the week. Missed again. The items in the guest store are ridiculously over priced. I get that it is a Hilton brand but come on. 10 bucks for a TV dinner? Just because of the Hilton name. Hilton used to mean top of the line, but this particular hotel physically is on par with a value place or budget stay. Not the Hilton brand of quality that the name was built on. The location is great. The staff is polite and inviting. The building was cheaply made though. Lots of family, kids, and young people running around. You should be able to shut them off, when you go to your suite, but that isn't possible because every noise from the hallways echo. And if you have neighbors you will hear everything they say and do. And they will hear you. The lobby and hotel is boring and sterile. All things considered in...
Read moreThis hotel appeared nicer online. In reality it wasn't. I stayed here for two nights and was overall extremely disappointed in my stay. When I checked my bank statements after checking out that day I saw I was charged an extra $250 fee. When I called the hotel to inquire about this charge I was met with a rude staff attendant named Colleen. Luckily I was able to speak with the manager later that day and he was able to refund me the money 3 days later.
Here's a list of other issues I had with this hotel: The rooms were not sound proof AT ALL. I had trouble falling asleep at night due to other guests running through the hallways at late hours. I was also awoken early at 4am due to hearing people in the hallways talking loudly. The doors to each room had about a 2" gap instead of fully meeting the floor. I know this hotel is fairly new but I would suggest for them to rethink their acoustic materials/finishes in the space, especially those doors. The chosen materiality for each room was done very poorly. The laminate flooring appeared to be tearing at the corners and not finished properly. The grout in the restroom was done poorly as well. The undermount sink in the restroom had visible caulking, this should not be visible. Lastly, every single frame hung in my room was crooked. You would think this hotel would be nicer for it being 3 stars.
To end on a good note, I would like to say that the location was great! There were many different amenities/attractions within walking distance, so that was nice! I would also like to thank DeeDee (I think), the attendant at the front desk when I checked in, for her extremely kind service.
But overall, I would not recommend staying at this hotel. I have never stayed in such a place where you could hear other guests every move. And on top of that, the rude service from Colleen has deterred me from ever wanting to stay at this...
Read moreThis newer property really delivered. Leonard at the front desk is a perfect brand ambassador and a wealth of knowledge about the property and surrounding area; his smile never wanes and neither does his energy-he really set the tone for a positive stay!|This location cannot be beat if attending a concert at Megacorp Pavilion...literally steps away. An easy stroll over the 4th St bridge brings many restaurants and bars in Covington, walk down the street to Newport/Levee offerings, or hop across the river to a Reds game or other Cincinnati fun. I was particularly impressed with the nightly rate, although that is probably a lower promo rate to entice folks to the newer property. Of course everything is clean and new, and the room has everything needed with a full kitchen.|If I had to critique anything, it is the greasy breakfast (it is free, so I get it), running out of coffee in the lobby way too early (remedied by the in-room pods), and the confusing parking. There is no need to temp. park/run up to the Plaza level to check-in and then go back and park in the garage if you use the digital check-in on the Hilton app - I even got to choose my own floor and room before I...
