Monelle — Local services in Newport

BUYER BEWARE. We frequent NPT for the last decade+ and I was in the market for new denim. Upon entering, no one greets or acknowledges you which sometimes can be nice to shop in peace. However, I did need help. After ~10 minutes of rummaging through the endless piles of jeans sprawled on the FLOOR, I asked (who I assume to be the owner) for assistance and guidance as to where I could find a particular style instead of creating a mess of their folded piles. She just said “you have to go through the piles”. Ok. Not very helpful. I should’ve taken the hint. I foolishly continued to rummage and ended up purchasing a pair of $258 Mother Jeans. Went about the rest of my stay — which generally is approximately a week, and hit the ground running returning back to work, back to life — planning our son’s first birthday that same week we returned so we were certainly not revolving our time around wearing new jeans that were purchased while on vacation.

Unfortunately, when all the craziness had passed, I finally took the jeans out of the bag (that was in perfect condition so not like I accidentally spilled something into the bag) to wear to an event and to my dismay, saw the jeans had brown stains on them! I reached out to the store and the associate said to text photos to them for manager review. Long story short, manager replies saying they cannot do anything because they have an ASININE 7 day return/refund/exchange policy and because I made “no effort” to make them aware of this within those 7 days, I was SOL and then the cherry on top…told me to try some TIDE to get the stain out!! I am appalled at their complete lack of customer service and zero consideration that they are located in a hot tourist destination where folks stay and visit for the duration of their return policy, not a giving a chance to unpack their bags before their “grace period” is up. I will NEVER shop there again and will warn EVERYONE about the store and their owner and ineptitude of basic customer...

The clothes and collections at this shop are absolutely stunning—great quality, unique designs, and such a well-curated selection. I was really excited to shop here and had my eye on a few pieces. Unfortunately, I ended up leaving without buying anything because the shop girl wasn’t very nice or attentive. It felt like she wasn’t interested in helping or welcoming me, which made the experience uncomfortable. Stopped in for first time on a day trip down from Boston, I had spilled something on the dress I was wearing and needed something to change into before a dinner date. The young ladies were so kind and helpful the inventory was so well curated it was hard to decide.
