The store that previously was at this location was called 2nd act consignment. It was magical, by far my favorite store in the norfolk area, the amount of merchandise in 2nd act was overwhelming, but thatās what made the store so charming and special, you could waltz into any vendor spot and always find something so unique and cool. There were parts of the store that looked like the merchandise hadnāt been touched for decades, but again thatās what made 2nd Act so amazing. It was like a never ending vintage-merchandise bottomless pit. Iām not saying that all the merchandise previously in the store was amazing, a lot of it was cheesy outdated decor and clothing, but again, you could ALWAYS find a unique gem whether it be a poster, a pair of vintage levi jeans, weird little vintage trinkets, post cards, shoes, etc. and so, so much more.I feel like the newly renovated store completely stripped the charm and magic from the store, even though they kept some of the orginal merchandise. Itās difficult to explain but thereās nothing worth my time left in there. Its just a combination of overpriced home decor pieces and artwork with the addition of some locally made items like candles and such. Not to mention there are barley any clothes left in there. Very...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGo to the back and make your way forward! I love the awesome small home decore items and homemade items you can find here. Hunt and Gather LLC owner, Michael actually kept every vendor from losing their inventory when 2nd Act went bankrupt and locked the doors without notice in November. This store has nothing to do with 2nd Acr its something new, like the VA Antique Malls but more organized, offering a small business or collector to sell items without the overhead or lovely google reviews. I am not a fan of leaving my bag with the cashier either. There are far worse things than a company wanting to protect their vendors inventory or the customers not feel cramped. Items are on the high end but the quality items and home made, hand painted art work have value. I personally like thrift shops but Hunt and Gather has already done the dirty work and spent the time finding those items and making them better or just bringing them to one location saving me the time hunting for it. There is a parking lot at Wells Fargo near Toco Bell and easy walking distance. I highly recommend checking this place out for yourself and leaving your own review for this store not the building...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI wanted to give Hunt and Gather a chance since their rebranding/reopening, but it really just isn't the same experience. When you walk through the door they have a desk with a gentleman asking people to hand their purses over and setting them on a bookshelf behind the counter. I was not personally a fan of how this desk is not constantly manned and doesn't have any kind of security so said purses were just left unattended. I loved the store that was previously here (2nd Act Consignment) as they had a great selection of jewelry pieces and great little finds for very fair prices. It was easy to walk into the store and find something special at a great deal. I cannot say the same now after the reopening. The store is mostly filled with cheesy home decor and has a much smaller selection of both vintage clothing and secondhand jewelry, all of which seems to be very overpriced for the quality of the particular pieces or items (I'm talking one vendor is selling a secondhand pearl bracelet with lesser quality, misshapen pearls for $200 or another vendor asking $165 for a secondhand...
