ALDI — Local services in Norman

I usually like Aldi, but I just had a very negative experience at the Norman location.

It’s a Tuesday morning and the line to checkout is wrapped around the store. At least 10 people waiting for one cashier, who has AirPods in and probably isn’t paying attention. As the line is now blocking aisles, a worker tells me “you wanna” get out of the way? I get there might be a language barrier, but she was rude and oblivious to the fact that the cashier needed help. Maybe if there was a second cashier, the line wouldn’t be snaking through the store.

I also understand that they’re reorganizing, but the store layout was drastically different than the last time I was here a few weeks ago. It made no sense at all, baking goods mixed in with housewares. Wine next to potato chips. It was hard to find anything. I probably would have spent much more if the aisles were organized better and the line wasn’t so long. It felt like they just dumped items in random spots on the shelves.

Aldi can do better. I hope this was just a fluke, which is why I’m giving two stars...

What I love about this hidden gem of a grocery store is its produce!

You tend to find good prices for produce that I would recommend buying in bulk.

Their wines are hidden gem as well, but don’t tell nobody I told you 🤫

Canned goods are the way to go and if you are a coffee connoisseur, buy their creamers, it’s a lot cheaper than what you would get a bigger stores. And their meats are of good quality, I’ve tried their spicy pork sausages and those are great in beans when barbecuing.

To my surprise, I feel they have really good inexpensive garden materials when it’s in season. Soil, garden tools, fire pit (I know right 🤣), and we’ve even bought. A pergola there that still works very well. Well the tarp did go down bad, but with this Oklahoma wind, it’s no surprise.

Overall, better grocery store option when you don’t feel like getting into a full-on fist fight at Walmart, Costco, and...

Employees were rude. I was doing two full service instacart orders. One went through with my my card the second one declined. So I waited. My husband waited with the first order at the end of the bagging area. I stood at the other end closest to the checkers i went to go down to the end of the bagging area with my husband and was told i cant go down there bc the guy wasnt sure whether or not i was going to walk out with the items i had. THOSE ITEMS HAVENT BEEN PAID FOR YET. YOU NEED TO WAIT.!!! The other cashier was telling another customer that he could not bag his items in his cart with the bags he had and that he needed to wait until after he paid. Nobody seemed to want to help the whole entire time I was there. I almost got hit with a pallet coming out of the backroom while shopping. Everyone was just plain out rude. I will...
