I got wonton soup which was good. I ordered orange chicken which had a good flavor but it was literally drowning in sauce. Leaked all over the to go packaging. My son couldn’t eat it because it was too much breading and sauce. He had 2 bites and was like “I am going to be sick all night if I eat the rest of this”. Super rich, if there was chicken in the orange chicken, you couldn’t tell. The fried rice was as expected at any comparable place. Overall the food was ok. The inside is very old and dirty. Odd fish tank with some bucket pump that made me seriously question if I could continue picking up my order. Behind the cash register is about 10 power stripes with thick dust covering all of it powering their whole restaurant. Really looks like a fire hazard to me but who knows. If you place an order to go (which is the only way I would get food here the atmosphere is not worth sitting in at all) they call out your entire phone number no matter who is in the room with you so that felt kind of odd. Since they don’t take names I would suggest the restaurant only announcing the last four of the number. When I walked out a gentleman also waiting to get his food said to me “so I guess I’ll call you later”. Just a privacy issue for me. I ordered here because it was nearby where I was doing some shopping but I really doubt I ever return. If you want truly American “gas station” Chinese food this is 100% your place. Big portions, extra saucy, don’t care about nutrition, had too much drink, stress or emotional eating…. Call it in and pick it up lol. But If you want cleaner, more authentic food and/or if you want to sit down and enjoy your meal I’d recommend the Thai place by Sam’s or Tea...
Read moreI recently ordered takeout from the Happy Garden Chinese Restaurant in Norman, Oklahoma, and I was thoroughly impressed with the experience. The food was fantastic. I ordered Egg Foo Yung, Chicken Fried Rice, and Sweet and Sour Chicken. The Egg Foo Yung was fluffy and packed with flavor, accompanied by a rich and savory gravy. The Chicken Fried Rice was perfectly cooked, with tender chicken pieces and a great balance of vegetables and seasoning. The Sweet and Sour Chicken had a delightful crispy texture and came with a tangy sauce that complemented the dish perfectly. The portions were generous, and everything was hot and fresh when I got it home. The packaging was excellent. Each dish was securely packed, preventing any spills or leaks. The containers kept the food warm and preserved the quality of the dishes during transit. They also included plenty of napkins, utensils, and sauces, which was a nice touch. The service was prompt and efficient. When I called to place my order, the staff was friendly and helpful, confirming my order accurately and providing an estimated time for pickup. When I arrived, my order was ready right on time, and the staff quickly and courteously handed me my food. For the quality and quantity of food, the prices are very reasonable. I felt that I received great value for my money, and I had enough leftovers for another meal. Happy Garden Chinese Restaurant offers an excellent takeout experience. The delicious food, careful packaging, and prompt service make it a top choice for Chinese takeout in Norman, Oklahoma. I highly recommend giving it a try if you're in the mood for some tasty Chinese...
Read moreWe have been ordering from this establishment for years with no issue. We ordered 4-h9 pot stickers, and a few other things for a total of $78 around 7:00pm we don’t receive our order until 9:45pm (keep in mind they close at 10) about 20 minutes into us getting our food ready to sit down, and eat my mother points out that there is an earwig (bug) in our food, and not just one bug at this point the pot sticker have been eaten, and it ruins our appetite for any other food that was delivered with our order. We are unable to contact the store at this time since they were already closed. They don’t open until 11:00am so we decide to call them around 2:00pm to make a complaint and ask for a refund on food we were unable to eat. The store owner Lin shuzen who is by far the rudest person I have ever had the displeasure of speaking to flat out said he didn’t believe that 1. Our Order took almost 2 hours to get to us (even though their website states 60-90 minutes deliver time which would have when 9:45pm which is when we got our food. And 2. Said he didn’t believe we had big in the food after we said we would bring him the ENTIRE ORDE. He was only going to give us $15 in store credit for our entire $78. Worst establishments, and customer service . DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE! We have not been the only people with this issue. Clearly.
UPDATE: after going to the location to speak to the owner he proceeded to BAN us from ever ordering from their establishment again. like we would anyways, that’s the...
