My Daughter was a student and Paul Mitchell. I have kept quiet because I didn’t want to stir up any trouble and cause her to not graduate. Now that she’s graduated here’s my honest review. The school is nice and clean, and there are several talented students there, however I would not recommend. While my daughter was a student I visited several times for her to service me. Every single time I brought my 7 year old daughter with me, sometimes she was serviced as well. We were regulars visiting every 3 weeks for my daughter to do my hair. One particular time maybe my 5th or 6th time (NOT MY 1st) I checked in and signed my waiver as I do every time and hang my coat up, wait for my daughter to call me to the back. This time in particular I was told before my daughter even made it to get me that “My daughter (7 year old) wasn’t allowed in the back and that in order for me to receive services I would have to either leave her in the car or out in the waiting area until I was done.” Now I was completely thrown off guard as we have been there several time and my daughter (7 year old) has never caused an issue she simply plays on her tablet and waits for me to finish. At that point I was embarrassed as the waiting area was PACKED and I chose to just cancel my appt and leave. I called my daughter and she went and got someone who asked me not to leave and they would handle it. I was asked not to leave and told it was totally ok if my daughter sat back there with me and apologized for the miscommunication. The lady who was at the front desk snarled and simply said “she was doing her job” However she’s been the same lady who has checked us in time after time again. I expressed my disheartened feelings and let it be known that I will never return. And I didn’t. What gets me is every since then my Daughter was targeted almost every single time she clocked in after. I stayed quiet but now that’s she’s done, I would never recommend anyone there. I felt racially profiled and misunderstood. There needs to be so many changes there and I’m only speaking from the experience I had. My daughter can speak her own truth...
Read moreFirst off STOP calling yourselves a school! This place is not a school its a factory who's only goal is to exploit their "students" by making them hustle paul mitchell products. I had a friend drop out of there a couple months ago because she had to bring in a model and her model who was her aunt had to cancel last minute and with nobody else able to come for because it was a week day and people have JOBS, the school failed her... What is that? First off the school should supply models for their "students" because like i said earlier people have to work during the week and cant just drop everything to come and get there haircut. Secondly by making the "students" bring in people is NOT giving them real world experience because when they are working in the real world people will make appointments with them to come in when the client is free to do so! Hairdressers don't call there clients and force them to come in when the time is good for the hairdresser. No, what the school failed my friend for was the fact that she was unable to supply them with another person so they could shove paul mitchell products down their throats. I went in there for a hair cut once and it was so uncomfortable having all the Learning Leaders (by the way that means teacher) trying to sell me paul mitchell products. Also, My friend came home in tears a couple times because the "learning Leaders" told her she had to be more beautiful that she wasn't good looking enough or tall enough to be a successful hairdresser. Now ask yourself is that somewhere you want your kids or friends going? Finally Let me just say i have 2 daughters who really wanted to go there but after learning what the school and the name Paul Mitchell is really about they have both told me that nothing would make them more sick than attending this so called "school." I promise you everybody i know already knows and agrees that this is just plain wrong. We are opening our eyes and we are NOT liking what...
Read moreI would give Paul Mitchell the school zero stars if I could, not because of the students but because of the instructor. I took my daughter there to get a partial highlight done. We have been to TIGI before and had a great expierence. I fiqured we'd give Paul Mitchell a try since it is closer. What a stark difference. At TIGI an instructor is always checking in to make sure the students are doing OK. This was not the case. There were only three other clients there besides us so It was not busy. By the time my daughter's hair was highlighted, it looked awful, the foils bleed through very badly, leaving a bright ring around the crown of her head. I heard the instructor point it out to the student (after it was washed) and said, see how it looks when you style her hair, so I made sure to check to see what it looked out. I pointed out the ring. The instructor told me it was a bleed and we could come back the next day and she would low light the area. The student who did my daughter's hair had to leave at 5p, the school closes at 9, yet no one can fix the problem then and there, nor did the offer. The school ended up being closed beacuse of bad weather (rain). I called a local salon and they were able to take my daughter. The colorist was aghast at my daughter's hair and could not believe a instructor told us a low light would fix the problem since the bleed was through many layers in differnt areas of her head. He was an instructor at a different school and said he nor his boss would have never let my daugher leave looking like that. He ended up having to re-color her whole head and re-highlighted. He basically said they could have really ruined her hair. I do not blame the student, but the instructor for not being more supportive. It cost $90 at the school, plus what I had to pay to get it fixed. Insane How are these students going to learn with no guidance. Needless to say we will never return. TIGI is superior to...
