Dairy Queen Grill & Chill — Restaurant in North Haven

March 20th was free cone day. Yippy!!! Right? Unfortunately, my experience was dulled by an unhappy helper. I opted to purchase a cherry dipped cone at regular price (no problem) I expected to pay because all advertisements were clear about a free vanilla cone (which my 5yr old happily enjoyed). Well, my cherry dipped cone was only partially dipped with a very thin layer of cherry, so much so that the vanilla ice cream was already seeping through as the girl handed me my cone.

When I expressed my dissatisfaction about the sub par quality of the cone her response was "well once it's dipped, it's out of my hands" as to say I'd have to accept this ridiculous version of a Dairy Queen favorite they I've enjoyed since childhood and have never received in this poor condition. I asked for another one; she unhappily obliged disgustingly throwing the cone into the trash, rolling her eyes and attitudinally and sarcastically requesting another teammate to make another cone "well dipped". I was shocked by her blatant behavior and lack of regard for quality customer service, respect for herself...

Pickup is drive through only. There were no advantages to ordering on door dash because their service tells you to skip the line which implies walking in. Nowhere in emails texts or site did it indicate this location was drive thru only. When I tried to helpfully inform door dash they tried to cancel my order while we were enjoying the wrap around drive through line. On top of that I got a text that my order was ready at 4:01 in the 4:00-4:05 window and at 4:10 we got it after waiting past the window. On top of all that NO STRAW so not trying this again! They were busy but I thought a pre order would help I was wrong! AFTER a that once I got a fresh straw at home and opened the cup fully sealed at the resturant I got a 4in long thin white HAIR in the first sip so I'm not sure I'll ever eat again let alone here! Yikes right? Would not...

If you've never had a DQ grill and chill, I'd say it's comparable to a Burger King, but with much better drink options. This one has a Coke freestyle machine on top of the selection of shakes, Blizzards and slushes.

The food was all well prepared, as in fresh and correctly cooked / assembled. Our order was correct when it was brought to us table side.

The whipped cream on the shakes was skimped and normally I wouldn't make a big deal of it, but everything was so expensive so you expect it all to be perfect. That said, this is a nitpick. Staff was friendly, helpful and urgent. Dining room was super clean and the air conditioning keep it comfortable on one of the hottest days of the summer.
