Disorganized and Unreliable—Would Not Recommend

I booked a custom perfume-making experience for six people at Lucid Coast well in advance, on February 27th, for March 28th at 6 PM. From the start, their reservation system was problematic, and I had to follow up multiple times just to get confirmation. After texting them on March 9th, I received vague responses and had to check back again on March 14th before they finally confirmed my booking.

Then, just four days before my scheduled event, they texted me saying my reservation had been double-booked and that I needed to reschedule. This was beyond frustrating, as I had already coordinated six people’s schedules and made dinner reservations that could not be changed. Their solution? Asking me to accept a later slot at 7:30 PM, overlapping with a private event they said “couldn’t be rescheduled.” Given their lack of accountability and the last-minute notice, I decided to cancel and requested a refund.

The refund process was just as frustrating. I had to follow up on March 27th, as they hadn’t processed it. Then, on March 31st, they finally sent the refund—but it was shorted due to a PayPal processing fee, which was never disclosed beforehand. When I pointed this out, they brushed it off, telling me to take it up with PayPal rather than taking responsibility for their own payment method choice. They processed it as goods and services vs. a refund. Hence the erroneous fee.

Overall, this experience was unprofessional, disorganized, and frustrating from start to finish. The lack of clear communication, poor handling of reservations, and dismissive approach to customer concerns make it clear that Lucid Coast does not prioritize customer experience. I have been wanting to check this place out for a while. And I'm so happy I did. My son and I had such a great time picking out our scents, then creating our candles, and I think what my son loved the most as well as myself, was being able to paint her own little embellishments for a candle. I haven't had an experience like this before even though I live in Myrtle Beach. In fact I live so close to the candle shop I could walk there if I needed to. But my curiosity kept driving me to go check this place out. And to be honest I've lived in Myrtle Beach for over 30 years, and I'm so happy I found this place! We visited Lucid Candle Coast Bar & Boutique for our 6th year anniversary, and it was such a delightful experience! The atmosphere is so charming, combining the best of both worlds – a cozy bar and a stylish boutique. The moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles from the incredibly friendly and welcoming staff. They made me feel right at home and were more than happy to help me explore their unique candle selection.

The vibe here is laid-back yet sophisticated, making it the perfect spot to relax with a drink or pick up something special from the boutique. Their attention to detail in both the service and the products they offer really stood out. I can’t wait to come back for another great time!
