Jim Murphy is amazing and was THE key reason my husband and I went back to the North Plainfield outlet store (970 Rt.22) to purchase our mattress and adjustable base on August 13, 2022. We had been looking for a mattress for quite some time. Upon arrival Jim greeted us at the door, offered us water, and asked what we had in mind. That part wasnât special as we expect that as a common courtesy of any sales person. However Jim was different. Jim was conversational, but not in a pushy way. He immediately made us feel comfortable and never pressured. He was extremely knowledgeable about the products he was showing us. Anytime Jim didnât know something he went to his computer or asked his manager on our behalf and never stopped at any question (and we had a ton)! We were at our wits end and found a mattress we liked but wanted to keep looking around a bit more just to make sure we were getting a good deal. Jim assured us that even if we didnât buy our mattress at that location (an outlet), the mattresses were the same in any Raymour & Flanigan so if we found one elsewhere or just wanted to buy the one we saw in Plainfield elsewhere, we could do that. We even went to other stores and called Jim to ask additional questions about the mattress to compare and Jim was ALWAYS so gracious, so funny, and had extreme integrity. For example while showing us a sofa bed, he pulled it out and noticed that it seemed to be lopsided. He asked if we noticed it and we said yes (the flaw was quite obvious). Then he asked another sales associate nearby if she saw how lopsided it was, but she pretended that it was how all pullout beds were made. She said ânobody lays flat to go to sleep anymoreâ. We looked at each other and immediately felt distrust for that sales woman. Then Jim responded to her and said, âIâm sure thatâs not supposed to be like that so Iâll tell (insert name if person responsible for being notified when furniture is damaged)â. Jim was not having it. Jim clearly was not the type of salesperson to say just about anything to make a sale. Jim was so approachable without being pushy, he was super conversational and made us laugh, and even told us how they celebrate holidays with a potluck dinner organized by him. By the time we had visited the store several times (bc Iâm extremely thorough when making furniture decisions of any kind), Jim literally felt like a friend weâd known for years who we could trust not to screw us over. We felt so comfortable with Jim and trusted his knowledge, experience, and overall approach, that we eventually refused to work with anyone else. It took us over 2 mo this from the first visit to ultimately make a decision. We actually ended up buying a sofa at another raymour and flanigan store in Watchung (only bc we loved the couch and they didnât sell it at the outlet). However, even though the Watchung store had the mattress we liked in stock, the same one we saw at the outlet with Jim, we refused to buy it in Watchung and instead decided to purchase it separately back at the outlet with Jim Murphy. Yes, it would have been easier to put the items on one sales ticket but Jim Murphy worked with us so diligently, and earned our trust and respect that we wanted to ensure we returned the favor and ensured Jim got credit for the mattress sale. Once we returned to the outlet store Jim was off that day so we waited and went back on his regular scheduled work day to purchase the mattress. It may sound like a lot but trust me we went back to Jim because we wanted to thank him for being such an amazing partner in helping us to find the right mattress. Jim took care of all the details and even sent us a thank you note in the mail. We were so impressed with Jim Murphy that we requested to speak with his manager so he could be acknowledged for his exceptional service.    Read moreHorrible delivery of damaged and broken furniture!! We bought furniture in the middle of July at the North Plainfield store. The experience went fine. We couldnât get delivery until August 7, 2020. No big deal to wait and understand with pandemic and all that many places are backed up. So Friday August 7th arrives and the furniture is delivered. The delivery men were very nice and bring in piece by piece. Each piece was assembled already and then wrapped very thickly with a plastic wrap. As the delivery men brought the last piece in, We did notice the longer dresser was NOT wrapped at all. Still thinking itâs fine or maybe it was removed outside the door. Well as soon as they got the 4 pieces in, and that longer dresser being the last to be brought in, Iâm trying to inspect and check each piece out to make sure itâs all good and nothings wrong. The delivery men had started running out the door as Iâm trying to go over everything and my fiancĂ© had to literally chase them just to hand them a tip for delivery. Upon inspection and opening and closing each drawer we noticed that on the back corner left side of my long dresser had a clear piece of tape over it and at first it looked as if it was to hold the extra hardware on to it because the hardware was right there as well. I decided to see why the tape was on the actual top of the dresser and as I pull it up I see that someone took a permanent marker and colored in a nick and the tape was holding the whole back corner piece on that must have been chipped in warehouse and somebody had a bright idea to actually deliver this $600 dresser to us like that. ?!? The veneer top was missing a chunk and it was taped on!!!! Seriously. And the under that, their is a white Chunk of wood missing from right under it as well and you wouldnât of known unless you were to look at where the original tape was!!!!!! I am more mad that someone tried to pass off to us a piece of furniture like this!!! There are big black hand marks inside the draws from grease marks of someones complete hand, the hinges on numerous drawers are broken and you cannot even slide the drawers open and a broken hinge to open the drawer is actually hanging inside the dresser So you wouldnât see it from the outside. Also another gash on the top veneer that is small but we were promised brand new furniture and paid $2000 for this stuff and this is what we got!!?!? We specifically went to Raymour and Flanigan because we never would have thought that we would EVER get anything like this. Also one night table is damaged as well. The drawers are not closing properly and the top drawers are lined in black velvet and are all scratched up and marked up!!! So as the delivery men ran out we called over to the store and explained the situation. We were promised a call back ASAP from the store manager. No callback. At 4:45pm I tried again and was told the same thing. Nothing..... so at 8:30pm I finally try again and was told thereâs no store manger in today and that I could speak with a âsupervisorâ. Ok fine. I was then connected with âXavierâ. I explained delivery problems and he told me he would put email into to service and that no problem at all and that I would revived a callback as early as the next morning with a delivery date and time to have a swap out of the damaged dresser and nightstand and they would pick up damaged ones and deliver us what we were entitled to, new unbroken furniture! So here we are, now itâs Thursday August 13, I finally got someone in service yesterday and was asked to send pictures of the damaged items!!! I want to get my room situated and now I have to prove that I was given damaged furniture. I wasnât given an opportunity to examine every square inch as the delivery men ran and also I would never in a million years think that this would be like this!!!!! We also bought a 5 year platinum protection plan and I am truly worried because it has taken me countless calls and messages that have gone unanswered and zero call backs from...
   Read moreI pretty much knew what I wanted to see and purchase. My lead Robert Mosquera was great not super salesy like some can be. He didn't make me feel like he was pushing anything on me. He took the names of all the collections I wanted to see, showed them to us, showed us features you dont think of off hand like pillows attached unattached, the seating of sofa being one sided or two sided etc. He also suggested similar and other pieces, etc he was thorough, patient, professional. The process was easy and seemless would definitely work with him again. Some of my items were back stocked Robert detailed when each would be restocked eligible for shipment etc. He actually found us as we were leaving as he was able to locate a couple of items for our original delivery date. The team also called me to update on remaining pieces and was able to have everything delivered together. During covid moving to a new home has been stressful. We previously had ordered pieces from a higher end retailer and the service was not as exceptional as this location and to date none of those pieces have been received since August with only a well you know covid please be patient.
