I'm a frontline healthcare worker at a Venice Regional and it's my birthday tomorrow, March 7th. Now, before the pandemic hit I was not really one to get my hair done regularly anyway for the ever-present lack of time and financial resources to do so. I digress. My appointment was for 1430 on Friday the 5th. Well, at 1345 we get an emergency case with an unresponsive patient and I said to myself, "What kind of person would I be and would I be able to live with myself if I left exactly at 1400 to make it to my hair appointment on time?" I stayed and helped my coworker take care of this patient. Things calmed down and my coworker was able to handle the rest on her own. I ran to my car and called the hair salon to let them know I was only 30min away and I really apologize for being so late, but there was an emergency patient at the last minute, preventing me from leaving on time. Not only did the receptionist basically tell me "too bad, so sad", but she did it in the most incompassionate way and with such callousness. She said she wouldn't be able to keep her stylist because the stylist was already getting ready to leave early for the day. I had a bayalage scheduled, so we all know those take 2 to 3 hours....I had this appointment set up for a while, so this "stylist" wouldn't have been leaving early if I had shown up on time anyway. She then proceeded to tell me that there was no availability whatsoever this weekend. I was crushed. I was looking forward to this appointment. I work 50 hour weeks at the hospital, I'm a single mom, and it's my birthday this weekend. Things just don't line up for people like me to have some dedicated "me" time.
Well, I'm thankful I missed my appointment at this terribly unfriendly place because I got to go to the best salon I've been to in a long time called Hair Magic in North Port. Carla did a superb bayalage job on my hair and I couldn't be happier with the result. Not to mention, my visit didn't break the bank as it was well under $200 with my dark, long, thick hair. The atmosphere at Hair Magic was amazing as well. I felt so comfortable there. The ladies were comfortable with one another and made me feel very welcome there. I enjoyed my services and time at Hair Magic and strongly recommend Hair Magic to anyone over the coldness displayed to me at this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI copy and pasted my review from Yelp so if youād like to see the photos Iām speaking of please visit the Yelp page. I just had the absolute worst experience at this salon and I feel the need to warn people about it before they waste big money like Iāll need to getting my hair fixed now. So New Yearās Eve day I went in to go much blonder like I do when a season changes and I was feeling a change, especially with a trip coming up. I wanted some some BIG BRIGHT BLONDE with contrasting lowlights. The first photo is what my color was when I walked in, the second is the color I showed them that I wanted. Well when I walked out of my chair my hair had somehow lost all contrast I had and had gotten so much darker (third photo with NYE tiara on)! I was visibly upset (literally crying because it was nothing like I wanted) and they said I could come back with someone they considered GREAT. So now Iām back with her for second the visit. I get out of the chair 3 hours later, Iām even darker than when I walked in (4th photo)! Thereās more lowlight than highlight, I have contrast but my hair is super dark now. I also asked for lots of blonde in front with face framing highlights, but somehow not only did they both not give me any of that, but the ones I came in with were low-lighted! I thought that was hairdressing school 101, give face framing highlights to accentuate the face. When I was visibly unhappy (again) they said if my hair was any blonder it would be damaged and I would have to sign a waiver, what?! If you couldnāt get my hair the color I asked for why did you waste my time and money? Then when I said my hair has been highlighted for 21 years without incident they started blaming it on supplements I was taking, which is none. I just wanted to go home so I could find someone to fix my hair at this point, and they end up charging me $175!! What a joke. I just donāt think this salon has the talent, capability or products to get your hair blonde. The last photo is how blonde I was for years, never had an issue with getting blonde, on the first try. My advice, go...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy poor scalpš Had a hair color, 45 min later I said you should rinse me out. She said you have another 5min. I said itās itchy. Another hair stylist washed me out. But my hairdresser was coloring somebody elseās hair and was doing two people at the same time and she didnāt stop coloring her hair to finish me. And the other Hair Dresser was complaining that she had to rinse me out because she just had her nails done and didnāt wanna ruin her nails. If thatās not enough, I didnāt understand what a hair gloss was and I shouldāve asked if there was a charge that Hair Dresser did not tell me that was an extra $50 excuse me $47 extra how I had known that I wouldnāt have had that done. My poor scalp has been itchy and on fire I had to get a special rinse and an antibiotic for the inflammatory. Of course, because my head felt like it was on fire. I had to hurry up and go home and rinse out my hair and also stained hair color across my whole head. I couldnāt have gone anywhere looking like that.. I highly do not recommend this place. This place is very overrated and it was very unprofessional of this person to be doing two people at the same time. Not a nice experience. 93.00 for a reg hair color & 47.00 hair gloss that was not explained to me that was Extra. I was only scheduled for a color and cut and thank God I changed my mind to not get my haircut that wouldāve been a nightmare as well. This hairstylist is Alexis. I am looking to contact the owner...
