When checking in for a 10-minute ultrasound of the neck area, I was given an estimated out-of-pocket expense (taking insurance coverage into account) to pay prior to being checked in for the procedure. This facility is a covered in-network provider on my insurance plan, and a part of the same hospital network as my PCP. It was a reasonable payment - about the same price I had been paying for similar procedures for a family member at another hospital system in the area - and I paid it. A couple weeks after the imaging was complete and they processed the charges through insurance, I was sent a surprise bill for an additional amount of nearly 4 times what my estimate was. I can understand an estimate being off by a nominal double-digit margin, but to underestimate the cost by 500%?
A relative visited this location once a few months ago; they had asked repeatedly for a cost estimate in advance, and was each time told that one could not be provided. Upon check-in they were told they had to pay the full insurance deductible of $500 before being allowed in! Needless to say, they walked out. They had the procedure done at another facility for about $80.
These are a gross failures of the financial and billing departments at this facility. Going forward I will go out of my way to avoid using this location for any and all services - if it costs more elsewhere (which it seems isn't likely), at least I'll have a decent shot at getting an accurate...
Read moreDropping off a sample at this lab is exhausting. I arrived with 2 people checking in at the windows at 735am and no one else in the room. I signed in when they moved away (after a 4th person arrived). It took until 805pm to drop off my sample. The waiting room is claustrophobic with 4 chairs, and is far too hot with a tv that blares HGTV at a volume that induces migraines. In that half hour I was there 15 people came into the room (about 3-4 of which looked in and walked away because it was so crowded). By the time I left four were sitting and 6 people were standing. I was nauseated by the experience of being packed into such an unpleasant environment and developed a pounding headache from the sheer noise level despite none of the people talking. Just horrible. I cannot imagine the torture this would be for someone with a sensory disorder or actual...
Read moreGot here at 830 Saturday morning with the lab waiting room filled and people spilled over into the main lobby (approximately 8 patients). Signed in to receive a text when ready for us (1 hour wait allegedly). Ran errands and came back at 1 hour mark and walked inside to see where we were on the list. “13 minute wait”. That has been half hour ago and we still are “13 minutes” (along with others are still in the main waiting room). Coincidence this is happening since lab services were sold to Quest? We came here from Strongsville because this lab was so quick and efficient! Never ever will come back. Do better UH/Quest. Get...
