This post is long overdue. When I find contractors that are awesome, I feel like I need to share. During our remodel last year, we worked with Adam Hawkins with Richins Carpentry to do our cabinets for our Kitchen, Laundry Room and Master Bathroom. My wife and I couldn't have been more happy! They did such an awesome job! Adam was a pleasure to work with and he always took time to work everything out with us. There were no surprises, no up charges that we weren't aware of. The quality of the work really couldn't have been better.
The Kitchen was done with a rift cut Oak. This gives us that modern look without all of the knots of traditional oak. Getting the color right was a bit of challenge, but we eventually nailed it! We love it. It's something different but looks amazing. The modern style we chose isn't something typical in Utah, but they still pulled it off. Our favorite things in the kitchen are the hidden door to the large walk in pantry. Inside the pantry we have countertops and cabinets. The hidden door to the pantry looks like cabinets, but is really a 250 pound door! We also love the spice racks on either side of the cooktop, the pullout garbage, and cutting board trays. Love the shelves, as well as the draws under all of the countertops. You can't believe how much more useful having drawers is vs having typical cabinets. The Countertops with the thick edges also look amazing! And the under counter microwave is perfect.
We did the same in the Laundry Room, but they did a custom drying rack that will come in very useful for after our dive trips. Also did a custom Iron Board along with the extrra large sink and countertops.
The bathroom was a little different as we wanted a bit stronger of a grain look. We went with textured melamine to get the modern look there. It does perfectly near wet areas, and looks cool.
If you are doing any remodeling with cabinets, give Adam Hawkins a call. The guy is patient, smart, timely, and gives full disclosure. He did a great design, and gave great ideas. During our remodel contractors were a bit hit and miss...but these guys were the best ones we worked with. Highly...
Read moreWe used this company bc some of our neighbors had and had a good experience. We are sooo grateful that we did because we had countertops installed, and upon further inspection, realized they were defective. When we brought this to the attention of the owner, Dion, he came out himself to check on it. He then immediately went to the local warehouse of the manufacture that we had chosen and verified that they were indeed defective. He then met me there the next day to let me pick out the actual slabs. (We had chosen this manufacturer bc of their warranty.) But, before we could have them replaced, a regional rep for the manufacturer had to come to our home and see the counters. Dion came to our home for that appointment as well. The representative was completely condescending and rude. Dion told him that he, the rep, was not to contact us again, but only to go through Dion, as the rep was so rude. Dion stood up for us and stood his ground. He never wavered on replacing the counters, even when he wasn’t sure if the manufacturer would refund the cost of the slabs to him. My husband and I decided we didn’t want to deal with that specific manufacturer due to their poor representative. We did not trust the warranty process, which was the very reason we chose that manufacturer in the first place, even tho they were more pricey than other manufacturers. Dion totally agreed and we went back to Richin’s and chose a completely different counter and manufacturer. Dion never once tried to get us to keep the first counters and never gave us any grief for the hassle. He was kind, accessible, and went above and beyond for our satisfaction. We 100% would recommend this company! Great service and...
Read moreWe have worked with Dion and Richins Carpentry in two homes. The first was a "reskin" project which replaced dated and somewhat worn cabinet exteriors with beautiful up-to-date finish and materials. Along the way he updated and improved some design and installation features lingering from the original cabinet installations. It turned older kitchen and bath cabinetry into beautiful, attractive, high quality modern cabinets.
We were so pleased with Dion's and Richins Carpentry's work on the first home, we talked him into several other projects - new cabinetry - for our new home. That included a semi-professional level home office, an extensive craft room for the lady of the house, a color kaleidoscope toy room for the grandkids, and a couple of large display boxes for our oriental carpets. One of those was an engineering marvel because of it's size.
We couldn't be more pleased with Dion, his company and crew. In this day it's soooo refreshing to see high quality product and workmanship, unquestioned integrity, pleasant but hard working craftsmen, and a job well done. Dion and Richins Carpentry has had to deal with all the crud from COVID, supply line issues, and so forth - same things we have all been dealing with, but he did not make his challenges ours. He kept plugging on, we applied a little patience, and the end result was a great product, and a great relationship with good folks.
We would, without reservation, recommend Dion and Richins Carpentry to anyone who wants great cabinetry, and to work with...
