I haven’t had any luck with Atlantic Electronics. They are really nice guys and fair in pricing and may very well be terrific at tv repairs but my 2 experiences with both my laptop and mini computer were to be blunt, failures.
In early January 2020 I attempted to upgrade my old laptop to windows 10 only to have the computer hang up. So I called Greenway Computers in Somers Point first where I had previously had repairs and was told that they no longer do computer repairs. They in turn referred me to Atlantic Electronics and Chip who had previously worked at Greenway. After waiting for days and calling on numerous times to check on the status I finally got it back only to have it crash on me the next day. I returned it to the shop and told that they pretty much jimmy rigged the drivers on the computer because the laptop was too old for updated drivers. End Result: Paid $180 and ended up having to purchase a new laptop. Perhaps they were trying to save me money which would be appreciated but I would rather have been told that it would be better to get a newer computer. We both would have saved time and aggravation and most of the $180.
In March later I thought I would give them one more shot when my 9 month old mini computer (Tanget) that I got from Greenway failed to recognize my hard drive. At first I was told that it was probably a OS problem and they just needed to reload Windows 10 OS. I dropped it off early afternoon on a Friday with my $60 check and the condition that it must be fixed by end of Monday since it was needed for business (thankfully I had everything backed up). When I checked in on the status that Monday afternoon I was told the hard drive was bad and it seems some of the data was missing. The Result once again - Buy another computer. In fact the hard drive data was not lost as I was able to take a Sata Cable costing $7.95 and connected the hard drive up to my new laptop and the drive was repaired with all data available. In turn I then transferred all the data to the new desktop.
2 Stars because they are nice guys with a reasonable...
Read moreThis shop did not work for me. Brought vintage Akai reel-to-reel deck in for slow warm-up of left channel, and capstan lube. The deck played beautifully, albeit after 10 minute warm-up. Paid $300+, deck came back STILL slow warm-up, but now too muffled to use. Capstan was repaired. Returned deck to Atlantic for 2nd repair (“head adjustment”, I was told), this time they HOT GLUED (really?) a head from some other machine and advised that correct Akai head is “not available anywhere in the world”. The deck, at this point, was totally unusable - and still took 10 minutes for the left channel to come alive.
I then sent the deck to Southern Reel in Tennessee who charged $800+ to undo the “repairs” done by Atlantic, installing brand new OEM heads and replacing board components that caused the delay in warm-up - a common problem, I was told, in Akai decks - a problem that should have been easily diagnosed.
I am very dissatisfied with Atlantic, but thrilled with the work done by Southern Reel, although not so much with the cost. Southern Reel was very surprised at the botched repairs done in NJ. Much of cost was to replace parts discarded during the...
Read moreThis place swindled my nephew. On 7/17/25, he brought them Beats Solo 3 headphones to repair and was asked for a $60 deposit, which would be applied towards the anticipated repairs costs. After a few days with no word, he reached out for a follow up and was told they would call back on a certain date with a status update. They did not reach out on the anticipated date and my nephew had to follow up AGAIN. This cycle happened multiple times. He was eventually told it was a faulty board and given a repair cost of $120. That's the cost of a new pair of updated Beats! When he looked up the parts, the cost was less than $50 so he called back for a review of the quote. They responded that the board was not the issue and and a different piece for a different repair was needed. When he said that was too much and requested his deposit back, they said the deposit was non-refundable. However, they made no repairs and my nephew was told the only triage done was trying to listen to it and confirming that one side did not work. Take your electronics elsewhere and avoid throwing away...
