Iâve had consistently great experiences here, so Iâm still giving 5 stars despite my last visit being less than idealânot terrible, just felt like putting a bandaid on a bullet wound. To be fair, thatâs more a reflection of the situation I was handed by two hospitals than a failure of urgent care.
Iâm not a typical patientâIâm a complex case with a clotting disorder, insulin-dependent diabetes, chronic dehydration at the cellular level, and more. My primary doctor was on vacation, and Iâd already been discharged twice from hospitals while still dealing with tachycardia, edema, high BP, hyperglycemia, and a bad sprain. His covering doctor dropped the ball on calling in meds, leaving me no choice but to turn to urgent care.
Now, I know urgent care isnât designed to handle cases like mineâthe doctor even reminded me of that. But when your blood sugarâs high, your BPâs climbing, your footâs ballooning, and no one else is stepping up, you go where you can get seen.
In this case, I was sent home with an ankle strap, which unfortunately worsened the edema due to my underlying conditions. I was told to grab Pedialyte, but as any diabetic knows, that's a no-go when you're already hyperglycemic. I had to MacGyver my own electrolyte solution with lemon water and Celtic saltâan Rx electrolyte powder wouldâve been more appropriate.
That said, I want to emphasize this: the staff here has been incredible in the past. When I had cellulitis from a dog bite, they called me at home to make sure I came back for a recheck. They literally told me, âIf itâs worse, weâre calling the hospital and sending you STATâweâre not letting you lose your hand.â Thatâs the kind of care that earns loyalty.
This visit just wasnât their usual standardâbut again, it wasnât really their fault. Urgent care can only do so much when hospitals and covering doctors fail to provide a care plan. I just wish more doctors understood how chronic conditions like mine cause severe dehydration at a cellular level, triggering crises with blood sugar and blood pressure.
Bottom line: For typical urgent care needsâantibiotics, minor infections, virusesâtheyâve been fantastic. This was a one-off where they were stuck trying to manage a complex case they shouldnât have had to handle in the...
Read moreâď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸ Exceptional Care and Service at Shore Urgent Care â Thank You! I brought my mother to Shore Urgent Care in Northfield today after she stepped on a piece of broken glass a few days ago. I was able to remove some of the glass at home, but she continued to feel sharp pain whenever she touched the injured area, so we decided to have it properly looked at.
From the moment we walked in, the experience was excellent. The front desk employee, Rashiba (apologies if Iâve spelled the name incorrectly), was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We even found out that she and my mom share the same birthdayâwhat a heartwarming coincidence!
The nurse, Kaya (apologies if Iâve spelled the name incorrectly), was so gentle and caring. She administered a tetanus shot, and my mom didnât even feel itâwhich speaks volumes about her skill and bedside manner.
Then we saw Dr. Carson (again, I apologize if Iâm misspelling the name). He was more than excellentâfriendly, knowledgeable, and extremely compassionate. He carefully examined the wound, treated it thoroughly, and made sure everything was cleaned up properly. The entire process was quick, smooth, and very professional.
Thank you so much to everyone at Shore Urgent Care for making a stressful situation feel manageable. Your kindness, efficiency, and expert care truly made a difference. We are...
Read moreReceptionist on this busy morning were incredibly professional and kind to everybody I witnessed them interact with. When I was called to the examination room I was greeted and asked about my situation with professionalism. When the doctor arrived, he was being followed by what I believe was a nurse practitioner in training. Very friendly and professional. Ordered an X-ray that was processed in a quick manner. The only reason I didnât give a five is because once I asked the doctor for either a shot or a couple days (less than five) of Tylenol 3 until my orthopedic appointment, the mood soured. Maybe I am alone on this thought, but I believe that if you are seeking relief from pain, that makes you a potential addict in this day! In all fairness to the doctor that I visited today, he was incredibly busy. I hope in the next couple weeks, to have an open discussion with the doctor I visited today in order to talk about the pain level I have tolerated over the last year while my insurance company has denied MRI after MRI despite my $9000 out of pocket annual insurance policy. The limitations I have with NSAIDs and who controls medicine in the year 2023-24. I donât wish to do this as a patient, I wish to have this conversation to understand and or challenge the future of...
