I went to this place on October 16th, hoping to try a local distillery and what I received was blatant antisemitism. Less than 2 weeks after the terrorist attack against Israel, I was wearing an IDF sweatshirt to support my family and friends that were called up from reserves to fight Hamas. Blake, the bartender, first asked if I was Israeli, to which I replied “No, but I do have friends and family there who have been affected by what happened on October 7th.” He then asked me about the situation in the Middle East, I said I was deeply upset by it all and wanted to see peace. Unprompted, he said “Well I think Israel is committing genocide.” Mind you, he made this shocking assessment weeks before a single Israeli soldier had stepped foot in Gaza. This heinous comment ruined the entire experience for me, and as somebody who has been to upwards of 50 distilleries, that is incredibly tough to do. Not to mention the actual products were mediocre at best. Overall, a horrible experience across the board. Blake, if you read this, shame on you. The fact that you had the gall to say such things to a customer is pretty repulsive. And the fact that you actively tried to engage with me afterwards signaled that you cared little about how Jews feel, especially in the wake of that attack. And I hope, for the sake of SONO 1420 and their brand, you have done even an ounce of work on your customer...
Read moreCame here with my wife and son for my birthday. Super chill atmosphere and amazing drinks. My son and I shared two flights so we could taste all of the options of vodka, gin, and whiskey - there wasn’t a bad one in the bunch, which really surprised me. I also tasted the amazing mixed drinks and shared a charcuterie board that Sono 1420 had to offer. The owner/mixologist is a great guy who took time to explain the differences in recipes and approaches he took to get to the distinct flavors and experiences of each of his creations. I will definitely be coming back here whenever I’m back...
Read more1420 had their first karaoke night last night (tuesday 7/30) that included two signature cocktails with admission ($25). Their cocktail list was perfectly curated and consistently executed. The staff is friendly and attentive. The location and idea are both so unique to Norwalk. The space is absolutely beautiful and offers a homey feel with couches and games. I got to take a quick tour which is normally done on weekends. Although the hours may say closed when you do a search, I highly recommend checking their facebook page for events. You wont find these spirits and cocktails...
