5 stars for Sports Monkey of Norwood negative STARS FOR Derry NH. I bought a Bauer Hyperlyte 2 Black Series. 15 days later it broke. I called the Norwood location and asked if I can get my stick warrantied by a different Sports Monkey as I live in Maine and bought the stick from Norwood because my son had a game down that way. They said it shouldn’t be a problem as Derry NH is closer but to reach out to them and make sure they are ok with it and if they have the stick in stock. I called spoke to Gabby and she said it would be fine and they had a replacement in stock. When my son went into the Derry location the store employee started the process while my son went to grab the replacement off the shelf, he was informed that they would not replace the stick. The store manager and few other employees told my son that he had a custom or Pro Stock stick, and that Bauer does not make a black series. So, after berating my son about how they are not going to replace the stick they called the Norwood because they looked at the receipt and could clearly see it said it was a plain Black Series Hyperlyte 2. The store manager of Norwood told them it’s a regular stick not a custom or pro stock and to please replace the stick. My son called me and said that Derry will not replace the stick even after Norwood said it was OK. I called and spoke to Nick at Monkey Sports in Norwood he was appalled that we were told no, Nick went out onto the floor and grabbed a stick and held it in the office for us to replace a week later. When we went to the Norwood stock for our replacement everyone was overly helpful and apologized over and over. My son then proceeded to tell Nick how the Derry location was bad mouthing Nick his crew and his store. I will not ever go back to Monkey Sports in Derry NH again. I drive by many other hockey stores but if my travels are going to be bringing me near Norwood I will make it a point to go and patronize the Money...
Read moreNot happy with the customer service. (I’ll start but saying the young man who helped me pick out my skates was great) I went into this location today with my wife and kids. They wanted to buy me a pair of skates since all 3 of my boys are skating now. My oldest who’s 6 now wants to teach me how to skate. I have 3 boys. Boys are crazy and loud.! After I decided on a pair of skates my wife and kids went to the car they were upset so they were whining like 3 little boys would. When I get to the counter to check out there’s three employees, a young girl, a guy with black framed glasses and some old women. So the old women from behind the counter (a employee) makes a ignorant comment saying “ people shouldn’t bring there kids out Christmas shopping with them”. Now, she didn’t know they were my kids. So I let her know and she proceeds to look at me and say, “you shouldn’t bring your kids with you to a place like this for christmas shopping.” Lol. I honestly didn’t even know what to say but my blood was boiling. I bit my tongue and walked away. I work in sales. I would never speak to a customer the way this women spoke to me. What gives her a right to say anything to me about how I should do things. I don’t care how bad of a day she was having, it was 100% uncalled for. I wish I got her name so I could put in a formal complaint but I was to aggravated to pay attention to that, I was biting my tongue so I didnt say anything ignorant myself. But if you go into this location in Norwood watch out for the ignorant old lady working behind the counter. Probably shouldn’t bring your kids in.... she might have something to say. If I could give the no stars I would but unfortunately I have to leave something in order to leave this comment. This women should be talked to, maybe put through a course on how to talk...
Read moreI won't be returning to hockey monkey and will not recommend it to my fellow female skaters. I went in to purchase a new pair of skates, which if you play hockey, you know are going to be pricey. I was with my parents, as the skates were supposed to be a Christmas gift. My father was acknowledged by a store associate at one point, but no one stopped to help. We stood there looking at skates and waiting for someone to come over for at least 10 minutes. Now, that might not seem like a long time but when the place isn't busy, that's just an absurd amount of time to wait. My father then went off to the bathroom and it was just my mom and myself.
We waited another minute, still no one asked if we needed help. There were two boys trying on skates with their dad's there to help. So, my mom and I went up to the associate who didn't even let us ask a question, just held up his hand and go "I'll be with you in a second. I'm the only one working."
Now, I worked retail for years. I understand that the holidays are a tough time for sales associates. But following this kid's comment, he turns back to the kid who was just starting to lace up his first skate and go, "so who's your favorite hockey player?"
I'm standing there, literally ready to drop a couple hundred bucks on skates and you can't take two seconds to go grab me my size to try on? The kid had his dad there with him, he doesn't need you hovering, man.
I don't know if it was because it was a mother and daughter asking for help or what, all I know is that I drove over an hour to get there and the dads with their sons were getting more assistance than was even remotely offered to my mother and myself.
Just an FYI to the kid working in the skate department today, women play...
