This store is located in Rookwood Commons, a popular spot for locals to shop. The shopping center houses dozens of stores offering every imaginable services. The parking lot is filled to the brim, and shoppers stroll the streets, making it difficult to find a good parking spot.
Despite its grand opening, the storefront is very unassuming with minimal decoration; a simple sign with the brand name “World Market” hangs over the entrance.
An associate stands near the main door, handing out exclusive shopping bags as souvenirs for the grand opening. The bag is made of inexpensive material but otherwise a nice gift to remember the occasion.
I notice the lack of shopping carts or baskets, only to be told they have run out. Fortunately, I have the souvenir bag to hold onto.
The interior is medium-sized and packed with mostly white people walking in groups. This seems to reflect the demographic of the area.
Three-quarters of the floor space is dedicated to home goods and furniture, which disappointed me as I had hoped for more food products.
The remaining quarter, however, had done it right. Shelves showcases a diverse collection of edible goods from around the world, including snacks, bakery items, dairy products, spices, coffee, tea, and more.
I bought a jar of guava jam made in Hawaii, a chocolate snack made in Austria, and a classic can of Danish butter cookies made in Denmark; things that I know are authentic and imported to the U.S. Interestingly, some products labeled as foreign were actually made domestically.
The aisle in the food section is not designed to accommodate such a large number of people at once. I felt very uncomfortable evading people just to reach the shelf I wanted to see, only to move again.
The wine and coffee collections stood out as the most authentic offerings in the store, although they weren’t top-tier or luxurious.
The rest of the store seems to consist of random odds and ends, but they probably bring the most profit to the store.
Customer service was standard but somewhat overwhelming. Personally, I prefer browsing without constant attention, but others may appreciate more assistance.
There are sample tasting booths that offer coffee, snacks, and free goodies to accommodate the long checkout line. I had to wait for half an hour, but it is understandable.
One thing I need to point out is the excessive solicitation for subscriptions. I’m sure they are eager to build a customer base, but being asked to sign up for the loyalty program every five minutes is really bothersome. For this reason alone, I can’t give the store a perfect 5-star rating, as much as I...
Read moreFantastic place, it was a nice Grand Opening. Plenty of parking, even for the handicapped. Lots of nice items to choose from in All Departments... Kitchen, Rugs, Candles and incense, Pillows, Indoor and Outdoor Furniture, Wine and Beer, and Gourmet Food Section. So much to see. Free Gourmet Coffee and assorted treats to taste. Even though the prices are expensive for the furniture , it is top quality and will last for many years. I will continue shopping here at World Market. The staff was friendly and able to answer questions and direct You where to find things. I met the District Manager, Kelly, and she was very friendly and really happy with the opening and the way the crew was doing. Another World Market will be opening in the Cincinnati area in October. The place was clean...
Read moreHonestly not as good as it used to be. We used to visit the one that was in TriCounty often before it closed and they moved out of the area. That place was chuck full of really neat home decor items from all over the world. We found the selection poor at this location. Almost like maybe they hadn’t received all their merchandise? A lot of things on clearance even though they just opened. Not somewhere I would visit maybe more than a couple times a year to see if merchandise changed with the seasons....
