7-17-2014 I've been getting my daughters bday cakes from Walmart for all of 8-9yrs. Designs are executed with picture perfect precision. Taste, variety, and they offer fillings, at a wayyy cheaper price than "others". However, they didn't have a beach theme which is what my daughter wanted. Thus, I chose Busken because of theme purposes only. I picked up the cake today (day of bday) and the design execution is very amateur, and I had to put the toys on the cake myself. Not what I'd expect for its price point, or for the type of prestige Busken carries. That's what I get for cheating on Walmart... bet it won't happen again. I've attached comparisons in hopes that Busken steps it's game up. Mind you the only Busken cake pictured cost more than any of the Walmart cakes. Sidebar: Kudos to the staff who are always sooooo nice.
7-18-2025 We went to sing my daughter HBD and when I opened the cake box, the cake smelled awful. We never did get to sing HBD because we immediately went into a round of who can describe the smell best. My mom won 🏆 she perfectly described the smell as, "The type of sour smell a bottle fed child gets under its neck when the milk sits in the neck crease for to long." Needless to say I wokeup 1st thing this morning and took the cake back. The staff totally agreed with me, and offered immediate remedy to the situation. The customer service is always phenomenal from the time you walk-in to the time you walk out. Of the options I selected a full refund, and a couple of free "Long Johns"...
Read moreThis bakery is well stocked and usually has friendly staff. However, I've been there three times and twice now I've seen an older white woman make black people wait to be served, regardless of order. The first time, I didn't even realize the black women hadn't been served until after I put my card in, because they were waiting by the register and I assumed they were waiting for a cake or something. Nope! And at that point it seemed like I was an accomplice to that bs! I apologized and so did the older woman so I thought it was an honest mistake. Second time, myself and a black man walked in at the same time and a family in front of us told us they weren't ready. I also said I wasn't ready and told the guy to go ahead. The same older white woman walked up, looked at the guy standing right at the counter and then pivoted to the family! The father says, no, we let them go ahead; she looked at me and I looked away so she'd know I wasn't ready. This woman tells the family to just take their time and go ahead with their order and the kids are ready so they do (I guess to gtfo asap, reasonably), then a black employee came out and helped the guy and myself. Idk if this lady is genuinely racist or just pretending to be, but either way if you can go to another donut shop (there aren't many around here), do so. If you can't and you're a POC go ahead and add 5 min to your wait time. If you can't and you're not a POC, try to help the POC get served in the order they arrive, since the shop...
Read moreDefinitely, SHOULD NOT BE MISSED if you are visiting Cincinnati. This place surely makes one of the best, if not best, donuts in the area. It is a 24 hours bakery but the best time would be during the day when the items are absolutely fresh and you see more options as well. The peculiarity about the donuts and other bakery items here is that aesthetically they are not at all appealing, except for few. However, in terms of taste, they are absolutely delicious. Their Old Fashioned donut is definitely to be tried. Apart from that, we tried few other items like Coconut Danish, Samoa donut and muffins like the Zucchini Nut and Applesauce Raisin. We have tried danish at many places but this Coconut Danish is the first danish we actually liked. Samoa donut was amazing and the toasted coconut was giving a very good crunch to the donut. While Zucchini Nut was great, Applesauce Raisin had a heavy flavor of cinnamon which kind of shielded the other ingredients. It was also slightly more on the gooey side. In general, for the donuts, they are just in a perfect balance - not so crumbly that it breaks and not so gooey that you have a hard time breaking it properly. However, I am not a fan of their coffee. You won't miss anything if you skip it. We love this place, especially for the kind of amazing donuts they make, keeping aside the aesthetics, and a great price. Most of the donuts are between $2-$3. So, you can try many donuts under $10 which is always...
