I have been looking for a camera backpack for ages but wasn’t having any luck online. I live on the Big Island with very limited shopping opportunities. I had a few days on Oahu before my big trip and was also having trouble finding one in stores. I really wanted a pack that I loved and would serve me well for a long time. The friendly staff at Best Buy recommended Pro Camera Hawaii and I’m so glad I checked them out. They had a great selection and Matt was super helpful with recommendations. I really appreciate that they listen to their customers and care how their customers enjoy their products. I did end up spending a lot more than I was planning but I am sooo happy with my purchase after seeing what my options were at other stores. You really do get what you pay for. I was also excited to see their rental options and would love to use them for that in the future. You might not be able to buy happiness but you CAN buy a Shimoda backpack! Thanks Pro Camera Hawaii!

I bought all my camera equipment from Pro Camera Hawaii . A Nikon Z8 and 5 lenses to go with that . The staff was helpful very , knowledgeable and cordial. I also experienced equipment rental from this store! Top notch, I was pleased with Cannon D6 and the lenses! Performance was amazing. Tony is being great at communicating with about special orders ! The store was easy to find . I never have problems with parking. As a costumer I feel so grateful to have a local camera shop like Pro camera Hawaii in the island and specifically that is Local owned. You can definitely feel the Aloha. Below are some pictures taken with the cameras and lenses from his shop. Water fall Nikon Z8 , Nikkor X 12/30 f4. Sunrise picture Cannon D6 EF24/105mm f4

If you're looking for a local camera shop look no further than pro camera Hawaii. They carry a wide selection of gear for Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Sony, etc. The owner, Tony is also one of the nicest guys I've met. Always willing to help you out, answer questions you have, give advice, and teach people about their cameras. They even have a nice selection of equipment to rent, albeit most for Canon, Nikon, and Sony, but he's always adding more and looking at rentals for Fuji aswell.

Thank the lord that we have a local Photography store that's excellent.

TLDR: The store keeps in stock all the gear that most enthusiasts and pros would purchase. Very easy to find place with very kind staff. Efficient and professional, you won't be disappointed.

Now some anecdotal stuff to demonstrate how well the store operates...

In the wake of the release of the venerable Nikon z6III, I was able to order one for pick up on the SAME DAY at their store. The process was smooth and very pleasant; the clerk was very personable and even showed me some of the new Z mount lenses that they have for rent.

Fast forward a week, and I realize that my model had defect: a red stuck pixel on the rear LCD (think a Dead pixel, but instead of having no light, its just a single color, red). It was a case of "well, now that I see it I cannot unsee it". Of course, this is nothing on Pro Camera's fault, if anything it was a matter of unlucky fate that a rare defect found its way onto my model.

Still within the 2 week return period, I emailed the store on a Friday night, and was very surprised that I got a response from Tony (I believe the business owner) saying that I can come in on Sunday for the staff to evaluate my camera. Now that is what I call response time.

Sunday, I was able to bring the camera and its materials to the store to demonstrate the issue which the employee was able to see and confirmed that its a returnable defect. He gave me a couple of options, of which I vouched for returning the camera for the kit as the body only option was sold out. I paid the difference of course, as this was the more expensive option. This turnaround was quick, only about 5 minutes and I was out of the store with a camera which does not have the stuck pixel issue.

All in all, this is a very professional place. I would, without hesitation, recommend those looking for camera stuff to reach out here before going to Best Buy or other...

First time customer here, just wanna say i normally take many factors into account including customer service however Not the best customer service, Took multiple days just to get an estimate on a repair and even then they “dont know” about my canon 80D being eligible for repair by canon when on the website it explicitly states that they offer services and i got an estimate for the repair in minutes which brings me to another thing, the repair would cost me “400-500” for me to bring my camera in to their store when i could just send it to canon myself for $359 which i am now doing, even if i have to pay a little less to ship it myself directly to canon. Anyways not even the worst part because they couldn't even answer the rest of my questions about bringing my camera in to their shop, which if I am being honest, if they answered i would've been more enticed to bring my camera there anyways so im just gonna say save yourself some time dont rely on asking anything via email unless you're going in person which im sure the experience is different because then its guaranteed you will have came with money instead of questions.

Edit: I am well aware what a family run business is however that doesnt excuse poor explanation and even poorer customer service and response time. Being a “family owned business” means making every customer experience easy to navigate and welcoming. NOT confusing and tideous. Absolutely ridiculous that a “family owned business” is not taking any sort of critique that could improve the companies customer service. Thats what this review is here for. Im not your high school bully wanting to pick on you for no reason. I am a dissatisfied customer providing insight to your absolutely underwhelming answers and customer service/experience.

zero stars if i could.

anyways best of luck in the future with the family owned...

It's not often that a business deserves a 10/10 or full 5-star rating. I can count the ones I've given on one finger... but this place gets the second one ever from me. Tony and the crew here have the best customer service on the island. Always looking to make sure you get "the best" deal; and they're extremely responsive and helpful if you have questions or issues with any equipment you purchase. I used to buy exclusively online from the big camera and electronic places, but I will always see what is available here first. You can't beat local support for a product along with immediate availability--without the shipping costs... all while matching or beating the online prices! You can't go wrong giving them your patronage!

My experience... I was on a wait list for 2 1/2 months for a newly released lens. I still had a couple of months more to wait from the manufacturer. I saw the PCH guys at the most recent PhotoCON and mentioned by dilemma. Tony was like, "Brah, we got that lens at my store right now. I will call them and have them hold it for you!" It made my month! Not only did I get that lens, but with their special rebate for the show, I picked up a couple more... I'm now...
