I want to sincerely and gratefully thank Kim McFarland for all the help she gave me a few weeks ago in helping me figure out my parking situation here in Oak Park. I just moved to Chicago from Indianapolis and the parking up here is totally different (and a bit more challenging) than it is in Indiana. I was a little lost at first, but then I went to the Village of Oak Park and Kim got me 100% squared away.
Kim -
I canât tell you how appreciative I am that you spent all that time with me yesterday afternoon helping my figure out my parking situation in Oak Park!!! Thank you!!! Most people donât go to those lengths to make sure they are helping the people they are working with. In a completely selfless way, you really took the necessary time and made sure that I understood everything â ANDâŚ. you made sure you were putting me in the best-possible parking situation!!!! Thank you!!!!
I entered Village of Oak Park in my cell phone, and in the notes of that contact I put that I had spoke to Kim before. Hey! Everybody needs âa personâ, a single point of contact they can trust! I am lucky to have gotten Kim. Hopefully I wonât run into any further issues, but if I do â I am grateful I now know the person to come see!!!! ...
Read moreI'm 70 year old male...saw signage on web and at door of Village Hall that senior and disabled hour was from 9.00am. I got there 8.55am and there was 7 folk lined the guy in front of me was also a senior. I asked the Security Guard who opened up at 9.00 what arrangements they had for seniors. His reply was 'I know nothing about senior hour' I even pointed out to him the signage at the front door!!!
There was one line socially distanced and all were masked appropriately but...ONE person serving and it took me 70 minutes to get in and 10 minutes of that was to be served transferring a vehicle licence and renewing it. Also no seating available ... poor show... There were about 6 other office workers walking about or sitting doing apparently nothing. The new logo should read "NOT READY" Oak Park. One would have envisioned that a manager or senior customer oriented employee may have been supervising how the process was...
Read moreOak Park is the worst. I went there to see a show at a local music venue and parked on a main street, Oak Park Avenue, and got a $40 ticket for my trouble because they claimed it was residential parking - of course the block only had one sign and it was hidden behind tree branches. What's more outrageous is they doubled the fine in 14 days!!! I have a lot of options in the Chicago area for seeing live music and spending my money so never returning to Oak Park will be easy. You have to work mighty hard to be worse at managing street parking than the City of Chicago but hats off to you Oak Park you've figured out...
