iFixNSell — Local services in Oak Ridge

I came here because of the glowing reviews. I wouldn't trust just anyone with my device - cell phones are too important to leave with someone with a bad history. But my experience was NOT a 5 star one. I basically spent the entire time waiting on them. Here's how it went:

-Monday 9:55am - store opens at 10 and I had no idea how busy they would be first thing. Got there early and waited outside. Finally, at 10am on the dot, a guy shows up and opens the door to let his employees in. I am mostly ignored for 5 minutes as they turn things on. I explain that my phone froze and won't do anything. He says it may be the battery and it will only take him a few minutes to look. Another lady comes in, he takes her iPhone with a broken screen and negotiates prices with her while I stand there waiting. Makes us hang around while he puts his display phones out since, you know, why arrive early when you can inconvenience people? Mind you, I was taking an unpaid break from work to come here. Anyway, he goes in the back for 10 minutes and I told him I had to leave. He said it wouldn't take long but he would call me. I was told if they could not fix it, I wouldn't have to pay for it.

-Monday 12:30pm - I call for status update. He has been busy and hasn't had a chance to look at the phone. He says to give him an hour and he will call me.

-Monday 2:30pm - I go to get my phone since, you know, it's been over 4 hours since I dropped it off and I haven't heard anything. He STILL hasn't had a chance to do anything but test the battery. I tell him that I will be back and let him know when I get off work.

-Monday 5:40pm - I go back. No phone call received. Still has not looked at my phone. Says it will take him another 10 minutes to test the screen. I told him fine, but I had to go (this was why I told him when I would be back). Finally comes out to tell me he can't fix it and it will take him 15 minutes to put my phone back together. He brings it back out and THEN tells me it's a bad board and they might have what they need to replace it. (Note: there is now also a bubble under my screen that was not there before, which his colleague says is where the screen is "separating" - thanks, dude, I didn't think it could break any more). He says they will call me tomorrow to tell me if they have it. I ask them to call in the MORNING so I have time to make other arrangements. All the while they are trying to tell me that I can just buy a used phone, which I turned down. I was quoted $110.

-Tuesday 11:45am - Of course I didn't receive a call, because why start doing what you say you will now? I called and was told they are waiting to hear back from another location and he will know shocker in an hour. I told him that I have been quoted "1 hour" for an entire day and I just want to know if they can fix it. He tells me to give him 2 hours.

-Tuesday 1:45pm - Yeah, I went and got my phone. I walk in and he then calls the other store to suddenly get the answer I had been waiting a day and a half for - they do not have the part.

I will never, under any circumstances, return here. The service was polite in person but useless. And of course, the phone I brought in there with a light flashing is now a total brick with a bubble under the screen.

This is why I don't trust stores like this. How could I buy a used phone there if they can't even return the one I brought in in the same condition? The only reason they get TWO stars instead of ONE is because I actually got the phone back at all & they didn't bill me (not that I would have paid for the nothing they provided, anyway). I would have been glad to pay for whatever...

It was truly a blessing how I happened to come across this establishment when I did with such short of notice and it surprisingly being not only a short distance to where I was going at the time and considering the long distance and the unfortunate situation that had taken place in regards to my MacBook Pro that happened to take an accidental bump and being damaged.

The real treat was that a the associate thst happened to be working was a long time friend from 2013 that I hadn't seen recently. Probably since 2017 I had ran into her a handful of times. However she was able to identify that it was I who was calling for assistance but most importantly calling to verify the actual address for the location listed on Google. I've learned that sometimes the listings aren't updated. This is part of the reason why I do what I do and of course take the time to give my personal opinion and express my experience.

My friend from the past that happened to be working at this location and managed to be able to call out that it was me on just 1 attempt, her name is Sophia. She was more than helpful, I'm certain that she is like that with each and every customer that walks thru those doors. She was incredibly helpful and provided me with exceptional service. Being able to identify the issue with my MacBook Pro by running a diagnostic and even giving me a comparison for the options I had to repair. Othman was literally my saving grace. I’m a student at UCF who is 100% dependent on my MacBook Pro, I was in class when I had the misfortune of spilling coffe onto the keyboard with no protection. I went immediately to Apple where they refused to open the laptop and told me it would be around $800 to send it off for repairs. I was devastated as they also informed me I would lose all my photos, documents, and information from my laptop. The first thing that gave me relief upon finding this store was that Othman promised me he would be able to save all my data which was the most imporatant thing. He then went above and beyond explaining to me in detail what he was going to do and gave me a timeline of when he was going to update me. He consistently kept in contact telling me the progress of the laptop and kept ALL promises. It was also extremely affordable compared to other competitors in the area. I was fortunate enough to have my laptop back the very next day! I highly suggest this place of business for all phone/ computer needs as they are affordable, communicative, and highly skilled.
