I am not a person to write reviews but in this case I feel morally responsible. Wish I could post with no stars. Worst experience. The people that gave high ratings must have been at a different restaurant. Run from here and go to La Granja. Cheaper and 100xs better. I ordered fries for my grandson and they came to our table undercooked and half frozen. I ordered a tasteless chicken chaufa and sweet plantains that were still frozen inside. That was all after we waited for our food for 1 hour. We watched another family sit in front of us who arrived, did not order and got the food before we did. We later realized that the reason we waited so long was because the waiters knew the family and had given them the food we ordered. My sister in laws' food arrived much later than mine and my son's just never arrived. We were so upset that we then requested for their food to be packed so that we could take it to go and for even that it took forever to the point that we decided to get up and request to pay only for what we had actually received and consumed. If this place can not operate up to proper consumer services standards, then it should be closed down. I will be filing a complain with the Better Business Bureau and request an inspection from the health department. I am a business owner myself and know that there is a proper way to run a business and this is...
Read moreThe worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. Let me clarify: I’m Peruvian and I know my cuisine. We arrived at 8:30 p.m. and they didn’t offer us canchita (toasted corn) because it had “run out.” Fine. We ordered an anticucho, a bistec a lo pobre, a leche de tigre, and two pisco sours. From the start, the service was awful — the server never introduced herself and didn’t even offer us water; we had to ask for it. The pisco sours were the worst I’ve ever tasted — way too sweet, like juice with extra sugar. We exchanged them for mojitos and they were just as sweet. The “leche de tigre” was basically a classic ceviche served in a cup — watery, flavorless, and magically, after I complained about the drinks, the canchita suddenly appeared “to go with it.” The fish was bland and clearly frozen. Real leche de tigre is thick and packed with flavor since it’s the ceviche concentrate. The anticucho looked just as dull, and the bistec a lo pobre was dry; it usually comes with a small side of salad, but not this one. The entire dish felt dry and lifeless. They didn’t even offer to change our silverware — we had to grab new ones from another table ourselves. Save yourself the disappointment and don’t ruin your vacation with such poor service and tasteless food. If you can, skip...
Read moreI've tried a few peruvian restaurants and growing up eating peruvian food, i can make a pretty good assessment of peruvian dishes. The quality of the food was ok. I ordered the pesto pasta with steak. The steak seasoning i avoid. I dont like it so I made sure to ask them not to put their specific seasoning on it. I think their steaks are already seasoned for the day because it tasted like they rinsed the steaks off with water because I can still taste it. It was also on the pasta. If they truly did give me an unseasoned steak then their pasta is not done correctly because the flavor wasn't good. There isnt suppose to be a hint of pepper flavor in it. The pesto sauce wasn't impressive but ok. I ordered chicha to drink and it was really really good. Probably the best I've had in any restaurant so far.
I've ordered the peruvian cookie (alfriol) and it was bad. The caramel in the center was stale and chewie. The cookie itself is way too dry than it should be.
I've been here quite a few times to make an assessment and overall its ok. Not awful where it deserves a 2 but I think 3 stars is fair.
The peruvian restaurant Mares is what im comparing this place to. Its not that much higher in price and the quality over there is far...
