You wrote a review for Bear Creek Traders A moment ago 1.0 star rating 6/17/2023 I was in Deep Creek for Father's Day weekend, and decided to stop in to pick up some last minute gifts. During check out, I noticed that they offered free gift wrapping for Father's Day gifts. The staff there could not making it more obvious that they did NOT want to wrap the gifts. First, during check out, I mentioned which items were Father's Day gifts, putting them in a separate pile. Apparently, that wasn't direct enough of a request. Then I had to mention again that I would like the Father's Day gifts wrapped. "You want them wrapped?", the cashier responded, as if asking to make sure I didn't want to reconsider. When she started to wrap the gifts, she wanted to put four discrete gifts into one box. I asked if she would wrap please them separately, and even then, she took two of the smaller ones and again asked about putting them in one box. At that point, I relented. When the gifts were finally finished being wrapped, the cashier handed them to me, in a loosely stacked pile. I asked for a bag to carry them in, and she said if they were in a bag, the ribbons would be crushed. There was no way I could handle three wrapped gifts, the bag already in my hands, and my small child, so again, I asked for a bag. She begrudgingly gave me one, and guess what? The boxes fit just fine in a bag WITHOUT crushing any bows. Meanwhile, at my request for a bag, another attendant snarkily expressed, "Wow" at my request. If you don't want to provide additional customer service to patrons, then don't offer the service, but don't treat them as if it is a huge inconvenience to you when you are the one offering the service. To make matters worse, I called and asked to speak to a manager. The manager apparently was the person who waited on me when I was checking out! She was not in the least bit apologetic or remorseful about the exchange. I have shopped at that store, and spent a pretty penny on their beautiful but largely overpriced gifts. I don't mind the price because I am their target customer - the vacationer who doesn't care about the price but just wants the items and the experience. Well no more! As a fellow business owner, I would say the staff would greatly benefit from going through Bob Negen's Whiz Bang Retail Academy. They need it. Or otherwise, someone who does want to provide customer service will finally come along and put them out...
Read moreWhile this store is large and had a wide selection, it was insanely overpriced. We had been to another gift shop a few days prior and wanted to see what this shop had to offer.. well.. we left with nothing because even though we were the ONLY people in the store.. we were followed by an associate the entire time. The store is large so we were checking everything out and at every turn she was next to us to somehow. Pretending to straighten shirts, coming all the way into the back corner of the store when she was just all the way up front.. I had plenty of money to spend and most certainly wouldn't have stolen from them. Ultimately, the insane prices and being followed pushed us right...
Read moreMy friends and I are up for Autumn Glory and they wanted some gifts to take home, we went into the store and had no problem being let in.
We browsed the selection for a few minutes, constantly being brushed past by one of the Assistant Managers.
We didn’t realize that the store closed at 7pm, and it was 7:05pm and the Open light was still on, but suddenly got curtly asked if “we needed help” I answered “no, we are just browsing,” unaware of the true question being asked. After my response the woman proceeded to say “Well, we closed at 7.” The situation could have been handled much better.
Aside from that, Bear Creek is a decent enough touristy-shop with very...
