Joy Beauty & Eyelash Extensions/JBEE — Local services in Oakland

I decided to check this place out since my regular stylist hasn't resumed normal business hours due to COVID-19. I had my hair highlighted back in march prior to the shut-down, and was in desperate need of fresh color.

I live across the street so when I noticed that they were open for hair services, I made an appointment and came in a few days later. Feven, the owner and stylist, greeted me warmly and offered me a place to sit while I waited for my appointment to begin. The salon was clean and equipped with sanitizer. She was also wearing a mask, face shield, and gloves.

Once seated in the stylist chair, Feven asked if I would like anything to drink, and then she reviewed my current growth and got started with the highlights. We had a nice conversation while she did my foils, and when she was done, I sat and waited for my hair to lighten up.

I wouldn't say that I have very long hair, but it is past the medium level and the roots are a medium brown, so it took quite a while for the entire process to complete from start to finish. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I was there for over 4 hours. I do think that because I let my hair grow out so much in between colors, it took longer than usual, but who knows. The wash out portion also took more time than I anticipated - but luckily I did not have anything planned so it didn't really bother me.

Ultimately, the color looks good, I feel very blonde (it looks platinum almost - which is what I was going for), and I would definitely visit Feven again...

Feven was the first person I ever trusted to do my eyelashes, and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I get compliments everywhere I go. I always get the cat eye volume style and add blue lashes- I attached a picture for reference. Adding color was Feven’s idea- and I love it!! I’ll probably never go back to plain black again. The lashes last many weeks, and somehow they look really great even all the way to my next fill. I’ve never felt more confident. I should also add that this salon is an incredibly relaxing experience all around. I absolutely love Joy Beauty & Eyelash! I'm literally obsessed with my lashes. I've lived in three different cities and Joy Beauty has been my all time favorite place for individual lash extensions. I love natural/classic lash looks and Feven (the owner) nails that look for me every visit. She really listens to what you want and also asks if you're satisfied, which I really appreciate. I love that my friends and family can't even tell that I'm wearing extensions! Also, Feven is so sweet and delightful to be around - I highly recommend...
