I really want to like this place. And I understand the difficulty catering to people who are vegan or individuals who eat plant based food. Overall the quality of the vegetables were good. But the main problem is the balance of flavor. Overall vegetables need to be seasoned separately and in layers. Without this, the food is going to fail.
The Spring Veggie Burger looked appetizing at first. However as soon as you try to take a bite, the burger crumbles in pieces. I was very surprised that they could not make the burger without egg. But if the egg is not able to bind it together, what is the point? The flavors were good...cumin earthy taste from the lentils. But it is impossible to overlook the lack of moisture. No wonder this burger is not able to stay together.
In my opinion, Sunshine with Tempeh was better than the veggie burger. The coconut curry sauce was quite good. But again if the veggies (especially alfalfa sprouts) are not seasoned well, the sandwich will not be good as a whole. I thought the cucumbers could have been sliced thinner.
The Hummus and Veggie was probably the best sandwich out of the three. I was a little disappointed that the pesto could not be made without cheese. However after eating it, it works well with the hummus. Again the cucumbers could be sliced thinner. The main problem with this sandwich is the large chucks of red onion. Red onion is very pungent. If the cucumbers were not sliced thin, at least cut the onions properly so it balances out with the peppers and arugula. The cooks' cutting skills may need to be refined. Yes overall the food on the menu does not need to be cooked. But it is very important to have all the ingredients in the right proportions.
Unfortunately both the quinoa chips and popcorn were stale. The blue corn chips were the best.
I hope they take these constructive criticisms and apply it to their food and techniques. This is the only way to improve what you do and serve. With the upgrade in food and unique, delicious kombucha on tap, this place has good...
Read moreThis place was the best years ago. My recent experiences over the past year have not been good so it's time to leave a review. Although the employees are nice, the food quality has gone down tremendously. The tempeh tacos are totally boring and tasteless now and the curry tempeh sandwich is never as good as it used to be. Its sad. They barely put any and I mean ANY hummus on the sandwich anymore. The tempeh is few and far between and does not seem marinated or flavored at all. and the bread is SOOOO hard and dry. I understand that it's Eziekeil bread meaning it comes frozen but they could latest let it thaw completely or something. Idk, it's just so bad . The coffee is also super bad, you'd think you couldn't mess up something as good as Rise Up but somehow they do. The coffee was so bitter my husband had to toss it in the trash!! We spent almost $90 here for our family and were so dissapointed and felt robbed :( the worst feeling. The smoothie bowls , smoothies, kombucha and matcha lattes are still good. Everything else: you've been warned.
I can't be the only one who feels this way....it was busy when I went and several others seemed very dissapointed in their food. I wonder if they delete...
Read moreI have been disappointed by this "business"on multiple occasions. I first discovered Real Raw Organics about 2 years ago: fell in love with the food immediately. Here is why they disappoint: (1) Their hours posted are inconsistent... the hours posted on their door, google, their website, and instagram are completely different? (2) When I travel 2.5-3 hrs to enjoy a weekend getaway during my college spring break or over the summer... they are closed, even though the hours on their door state that they are opened?... this has happened on multiple occasions. (3) I even gave them a call- was very kind, just expressing my concern about the above stated issues... & they have not returned my call apologizing for the inconvenience or anything... Most businesses would be very apologetic & maybe even offer a free meal.
BTW, as I waited in the parking lot (during my last trip) 3 other couples had arrived very confused and upset about the business being closed for no apparent reason... one of the couples were locals and mentioned that it had happened...
