Mavis Tires & Brakes — Local services in Ocean Isle Beach

I was headed to the beach when my tire started to go flat. It is horrible to need car care and not know the area or who to trust. Mavis was the closest service center to me so I read the reviews. Some good, but some not so good. I decided to give them a chance. I was extremely pleased with the service, care and honesty shown to me. A patch from a previous issue was leaking. They patched my tire and sent me on my way. A few days later, as I was ending my weekend getaway, my tire began to leak again. I took my car back to Mavis. The patch that they had applied had started to leak because it was compromised from the first patch months before. It was decided that I needed a new tire. I feel like the cost of the tire was fair and on the lower end of the average cost, based on my internet research. The cost of the patch from a few days before was taken off the bill. Because I had to return for a second time, the manager went over and above. They replaced the tire pressure sensor in that tire at no cost, and the manager personally made sure that the sensor was programmed correctly before giving the keys back to me. I would definitely recommend using their services whether you're vacationing or a permanent resident in need of service in the Ocean Isle...

My 16 year old daughter was on her way down to the beach for the weekend when she noticed her tire staring to go flat. She pulled into the Mavis shop with no appointment and the guys were great. They got her in quickly, checked out the tire and turned out she had cracked the rim and it was leaking! They didn’t try to oversell anything even though she had no idea what she was doing. They reached out to me to me let me know what was going on, even sending pictures so I could assess the issue myself. I quickly ordered a rim and had it dropped at the house at the beach. When we took it back over they were fantastic once again. It was 4th of July weekend and they were slammed and could easily have turned us away but they didn’t. They had us drop it back with them and worked us in that afternoon when they could get a break. Being a father of a teenage daughter you’re always worried something will happen when you’re too far away and someone will take advantage of them. That wasn’t the case with this team here. They never spoke to her like she was a child and never dismissed her or tried overcharging for anything unnecessary. It’s refreshing to know there are still people like that around. I wrote this shop a Yelp review a year or so ago but did not do one on Google, well doing one now. BTW they were awesome when I went there a year ago and they still are awesome. I am in process of buying a used vehicle, stopped by this past Saturday so they could check it out. Josh, the person in the front that checks you in (his name starts with a C but I cannot remember his name) and another mechanic whose name I cannot remember were great. They checked the used vehicle I was thinking about buying, but as I was driving it for a while before I got to Mavis, something did not seem right with vehicle. It is a diesel and I never owned a diesel, I thought maybe what was happening when it got warm was normal for a diesel, but my gut told me probably not and to check it out. Josh and the other mechanic checked it and said stay away do not buy it. I went back to the dealership and picked another used vehicle and brought it for them to check it today....I was so glad the same! employees were there on today on Sunday, Josh checked out the second used vehicle and said it had no issues. I highly recommend this...
