Whatever you do- DO NOT RENT 121 W 1st street in ocean isle!!!
121 W 1st street very much so felt like a bait and switch, if not for the exterior alone. The house has a clear lack of maintenance as well as a lack of deep cleaning which became evident hours into our stay. The pool needs to be fully resurfaced (cracks and lack of general pool maintenance very evident- see advertised photo vs realty of arrival) and was not cleaned upon arrival (lots of sand at bottom of pool). The washer was a front load that had clearly been closed for several months as it reeked of mold and had visible mold upon opening. The roof leaked with rain water pouring into the living room area multiple times during our stay. The house had clearly not had a deep clean in several months as there was a what looked like, an old dried leak (brown dried puddle) in front bedroom on wooden windowsill, blinds that hadn’t been touched (disgustingly dirty), the ceiling fan in the living room had a layer of dust at least 1/4” thick. The outdoor furniture was dry rotted and the deck boards in the top deck warping up (as I can only assume having construction history) that the support boards below are rotting away therefore the decking is unable to attach and warping. All of these long term maintenance issues as well as the lack of cleanliness was communicated several times to Williamson via phone. The lack of concern was appalling and is cause for concern if you’re a property owner using them for management purposes. We would NEVER rent this house again and will be sure to make others aware of its issues. This is unacceptable and unfortunate as this rental cost us almost $7000 for the week and we drove 13 hours from south Florida to come together with extended family for a fun week- instead it was a week of nightmares!!
The best part about this whole story is 7 hours (we left at 4am!) into our drive home we get a call from Williamson accusingly probing if we had a pitbull in the house because their air conditioning person was there and spotted a pitbull! They clearly had the wrong address as 1) we never had any dogs st the house 2) the AC was the 1 thing that actually wasn’t broken 🙄- if only they were as concerned about the cleanliness and maintenance of their properties as they were about the random dog (that we never saw at...
Read moreThe booking process, check in process, and check out process were all very easy. The view of the inlet was gorgeous especially at sunrise and sunset. However, The house we stayed in was less than desirable. We rented 3 Dolphin Ct in Ocean Isle Beach NC at the end of July 2023. The house needed some serious TLC and deep cleaning. The rugs in the bathrooms were dingy and stained. The sink in at least one bathroom was clogged very bad, the shower head in at least one bathroom had black slimy residue, the latch to the outdoor shower was rusted so bad that we could not pry it open to rinse off when coming back from the ocean before entering the house (despite there being a sign on the door of the shower asking that we rinse off in said shower). We did ultimately rinse off using the garden hose. We found multiple roaches inside and outside the house. The washing machine broke the first day we were there. The realty company was very responsive when we called about the machine breaking. The machine was very old and honestly needed to just be replaced. But instead they chose to “repair” it. It took multiple trips by the repairman to solve the problem because they kept having to order parts for it. The machine was finally functional the day before we left. Replacing the very old machine would have been much quicker and in the long run probably cheaper for the owner because I’m sure the machine will break again very soon. The realty company did offer to come get our towels (our personal towels at that) and laundry them for us. We needed more than towels laundered. We needed clothes! We ended up having to go to the laundromat all the way in Shallotte which was quite an inconvenience and took valuable time away from our vacation. The realty company did offer to reimburse us for the laundromat fees but we opted to not get reimbursed because taking our receipts to their office was going to take yet more time away from our vacation. We did like the floor plan of the home but that’s probably the only positive thing I can say about this house. We will definitely NOT stay at 3 Dolphin Ct in Ocean Isle...
Read moreWe have had good experiences with Williamson Realty in the past, and the issues we had during our week this year were not the fault of the realty company. Both the washer and the dryer in the house we rented broke down the first night - a Saturday. No one came to look at the problems until Monday, and after the problems were confirmed, we were told to expect a repairman on Wednesday. We waited until 5:30 that day for someone, who confirmed that parts had to be ordered. The owner of the house was under a contract with GE, and Williamson Realty didn't have the authority to use their own people.
To be fair, Williamson Realty told us that they would have sent their own people if possible, but no repair people were available. Consequently, we were without a washer & dryer the entire week, which was not good. We did get a partial refund from the owner for our trouble. The refund had to go through processing and took about 10 days to get to us through the mail.
The air conditioning downstairs went out one day, but someone did come 6-8 hrs later and was able to fix that problem.
The house we stayed in had not been deep cleaned in a while. Most surfaces had been cleaned, but the oven was really dirty. We washed everything in the kitchen before we used it - which we usually do when we rent a beach house.
We were told that the owners had stayed in the house for several weeks, and then a long-term renter had been there. No time was available for Williamson Realty to do a thorough inspection before we arrived. Especially during this time of Coronavirus, the house should have been more thoroughly assessed before our arrival.
We love Ocean Isle Beach and will continue to use Williamson Realty - they were very nice to work with, even though some of our issues couldn't be fixed while...
