Terrible service. I had an appointment for today at 11 am. I arrived at the salon exactly 5 minutes later (I checked my phone) The groomer, I believe his name is Joshua, informed me that he couldn’t take my dog for nail trimming. He explained that even though I had arrived a few minutes later, he couldn’t accommodate my dog, even though I had already made an appointment. Interestingly, the week before, he had made me schedule an appointment for today because he couldn’t take a walk-in that Monday. Today, he couldn’t take an appointment either, claiming he didn’t have time. I said ok, I wasn’t happy but I was not going to waste my time arguing with him and called Petco in Carlsbad, where they assured me they could definitely take a walk-in. Upon arriving at Petco Carlsbad, I encountered Tara, who was incredibly friendly and took excellent care of my dog in no time. She mentioned the appointment I had made at Petco in Vista Way and I explained the situation. Surprisingly, she said they had to take my dog in because I only arrived 5 minutes, and they should have waited at least 15 minutes. The nail trimming service took only 15 minutes, which made me wonder why the groomer at the other Petco didn’t feel like taking my dog. It was a quick service. The most amusing part was that when I checked my Petco app, it showed that Joshua had completed the service for today and it says it was a walk-in! Haha That must be a joke! I don’t usually complain about bad service but I think they definitely need to pay attention to these kind of scenarios. From now on, Petco Carlsbad will be my best option.

The young leopard geckos at this location are kept in a habitat with fine grain sand. I've pointed out on 5 different occasions now (very politely knowing they have no control over the situation) to multiple different cashiers that keeping them in fine grain sand is extremely detrimental to their health especially when young since they will likely ingest it and will keep them from eating properly and they can develop metabolic bone disease and other ailments. Every time I was assured management would be made aware but after a few weeks with no change I also made a complaint through corporate. A week later (tonight) I went in again to check on them (I don't normally shop here only when kahoots is closed since they take good care of their animals and recently only to check on this issue) I was scolded by a staff member for taking pictures as proof of this issue. This is clearly a very unhealthy animal and unfortunately buying them and surrendering them to a better facility would only encourage them to buy more that will be cared for in the same way. Just going to share this everywhere I can until your store cares enough to give the minimum effort and change the substrate to something not actively killing the animals you're trying to profit off of.

When they brought our dog over to us the groomer was apparently back there the whole time. Told the employee to tell us his nails broke. No explanation of what happened nor did they come out to talk to us. Really downplayed the nail breakage. The nail was hanging off and my dog’s toe was all bloodied with his quick exposed. Accidents happen, but to not come out and talk to us was unprofessional.

I will never EVER have my dog groomed here again. The grooming itself was fine, even though our dogs nails were not buffed properly and still sharp with some hangnails. However they allow their groomers, who work on commission, to schedule their own apts. I scheduled my apt thinking it would be $28 and that it would include a bath a nail trim and special shampoo. I asked the groomer several times before scheduling that it would only be $28, and that the bath was included and he reassured me that it was. On the day of getting her groomed they rushed me to sign the consent form that also had the prices on it so I didn’t see that the bath wasn’t included and was an extra $53. When my husband went inside to pay for the services the groomer just said “I thought you knew it wasn’t included.” Even though he was the one who scheduled us and told us it was included after we asked several times to make sure. He then forced my husband to sign another paper with all the prices confirming it. I then went inside to get a refund, the same groomer who groomed my dog came to the desk and asked me if I had questions I stated the issue I had and he said, “oh well um, let me get my manager.” The manger came out and was absolutely disrespectful and rude, saying it was my fault for not clarifying and signing things without reading them throughly, and that she could only refund me the initial $28 that was the upgrade fee for special shampoo and getting her nails trimmed and buffed. I settled for that and the manger continued to say if I couldn’t afford services then I shouldn’t schedule them and continued to blame me, even after I clearly stated we asked several times and where told it was included. I told her she shouldn’t allow her groomers who work on commission to schedule their own appointments to avoid this issue and that the groomer and herself handled the situation very unprofessionally. Additionally, I want to emphasize the evidence supporting my review. As the saying goes, there are always multiple versions of every story. In this case, the pictures I have attached clearly depict the order still sitting untouched, even after a half hour had passed. It is disheartening to witness that the order was neglected, as customers were left waiting without their essential items. On the other hand, I observed the general manager, Lucas, a mere half hour later, lounging around, seemingly unconcerned about the inefficiencies and failures occurring under his leadership.

To my astonishment, it appeared as though none of the employees were capable of fulfilling Lucas's responsibilities. One employee even conveyed an inability to lift anything over 5 pounds, or at least that was the impression given. Yet, it is perplexing that while some restrictive physical limitations are imposed on employees, customers are expected to handle and move strenuous 80-pound bags of pet food just to access their intended items - items that were supposed to be prepped and ready for quick and efficient pickup.

This stark contrast between the expectations placed on customers and the lack of accountability shown by the employees, particularly the general manager, only reinforces the deeply rooted failures in the management and organization of Petco on West Vista. It is an unacceptable workplace culture that disregards customers, places unfair burdens on them, and exhibits a disconcerting lack of professionalism and customer care.

As I conclude my review, I implore potential customers to seriously consider the numerous shortcomings and disappointments I experienced at Petco on West Vista. The evidence provided and my detailed account of the blatant disregard for orders, customer service, and overall professionalism should serve as a clear warning. Save yourself the frustration and seek out a pet shop that values its customers and upholds the principles of good...

I took my dog in today to get him washed, and de flead as well as to get his nails cut and hair trimmed, I talked to the groomer beforehand and let him know that my dog does in fact have fleas and I have tried many different ways of getting rid of them and that I need help he said and I quote “no worries. We will get them all”. I left my dog for about an hour after an hour. I get a phone call from Petco saying that I need to come pick up my dog immediately because he needs to be quarantined away from the other dogs Due to his flea infestation being more than what they could Supposedly handle. I rushed over to get Him once I got there, the technician explained that he had too many fleas and that he had to be taken out immediately to be kept away from the other dogs. When they brought my dog out he was soaking wet. and cold, they claim that they were toweling him off, and that they used a quick dry spray on him, but when I got him back into the car, he was damp and shaking from being so cold. I did my best to keep my cool and not to cause a scene, but I am extremely angry. I don’t mind the fact that they couldn’t help him granted they did not charge me for it but one nowhere does it say on the website that they can’t handle a flea infestation, I also made it clear in the beginning that they were bad and that I needed help and you didn’t even have the common decency to dry off my dog fully and instead let him sit there, damp and shivering cold. Having to come and pick up my dog, soaking wet in front of other pet owners was extremely embarrassing. I am not a bad owner. I love my dog unfortunately he has fleas, and that was humiliating to have broadcasted across the store, I’d also like to mention that they did not perform any of the other services that I had brought him for.
