I was asked to write a review just because I looked up the place to get the address for VA stuff. I’ll leave a one based on my one time there in July of 2004. Had fun with my then wife and my buddy and his wife. Really enjoyed ourselves until we stepped out of the front door. One of the employees started harassing my buddy’s wife to the point he had to step in. It got heated and my friend got in a fight with him and someone else. Obviously I’m gonna help my friend because we went to boot camp together, SOI and the same unit and were together every day on the 2003 invasion deployment. Well as soon as I went to help, I was jumped by five guys. I was knocked unconscious after holding my own for a bit and had to be taken to the base hospital because they all stomped on my head causing severe swelling to the point I couldn’t recognize myself and had a concussion. I was diagnosed with a moderate TBI in 2009 because of it and it was linked back to that event. Anyway, the reason so many people joined in to fight us was because they were all in the same gang, “O Side”. Shocker they couldn’t fight one on one. Not real men anyway. Cops tried to get camera footage but was told the cameras weren’t working. Yeah right, how convenient since gang members worked there. So no, I wouldn’t recommend that place no matter what. I know my assault by employees of the business was so long ago but screw them. I’d give negative stars if I could because 20 years later I’m still affected with the TBI and I received zero justice. My whole company wanted to go down there and handle it but our 1stSgt said no because it might affect my case. Well no case without evidence that conveniently wasn’t there anymore. Oceanside police suck as well. They literally didn’t care and put zero effort into making an arrest or even...

Don’t waste your time. The attendant came up to us with attitude saying he told us we need to finish by 5:30 and blamed us for ‘farting around on [our] phones wasting time’. (We were video recording each other in case we got a strike, and didn’t even break in between turns.)

I didn’t even have a chance to reply, he just jumped down my throat and shut off the lane when we were almost finished with our last game. I checked with every person in our party and no one heard him say we need to be done by a certain time and everyone looked puzzled. My family also said he was watching us like a hawk with some mean stare the whole time. My wife was entirely creeped out.

A second attendant came in and said we paid for 6 games when in reality we paid for 4, so that just proves the first guy is bats. I left and told the guy since he copped an attitude at us and shut down the lane without even treating us like humans we won’t come back.

If there’s a league coming in we could have sped it up if given fair warning but he didn’t. I’m never coming back. I’ll take any other bowling alley over the one this guy works at. Also, there was only one group of 4 people on the other side of the alley that had come before us and were still playing when we left. No one with league shirts were anywhere in sight. Waste of money and of time. Go somewhere else if you want...

IF there was a negative star rating I would. I called Surf Bowl for their specials and the lady on the phone, never got her name, was completely rude. I would ask a simple enough question on what the specials were and she answered with condescending remarks and sarcasm. She wasn't clear on the specials at all. When we went there and met her, obviously knowing that that was here because she was being the same rude person as when I first talked to her. I saw a "special" for 20 dollars a lane for two hours and 4.00 dollars each pair of shoes. NOT that great of a deal. She put us next to this big group of people even knowing that there was a open lane to the left of the party group. Started bowling and the balls kept making a knocking noise down the lanes. They must be uneven lanes, the equipment is all outdated and not working properly. We were constantly interrupted the whole time we were there, just like everyone else. The bartender did not know how to handle customers at all, very hostile environment. Could feel an unhealthy relationship from the bartender and the guy at the front desk, too flirty, in everyones face. IF you want to have a good time, PLEASE go elsewhere. You will find both better prices and a friendlier customer staff. I will NEVER come back to this bowling...
