I wrote the following review on July 31st. It was a long day of traveling with small children. Regrettably, when I arrived at the hotel (mistakenly, we stayed at the palms Best Western)and was told I could not let my 3 year old use the bathroom behind the counter I was upset and lashed out at the staff on shift. I returned today to apologize to the staff for raising my voice and reacting poorly. I met the manager this morning. We talked for a bit. I offered him my apologies for my behavior. I also read his reply to my review. He seems like a decent man. At the end of the conversation he asked me to remove my post. I considered it. However, it was not my opinion but behavior I believe was wrong. Hotels are ALL about hospitality. This one turned a regular customer away in a time of need. I DID NOT ask them to open a room for a bathroom. I provided my diamond card to prove who I was and not just some one from the freeway.
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE STAFF!!!!! I accidentally ended up here and not the Oceanside Palms where my reservation was at. Let me start by saying I am a fan of 99.9% of all Best Western Plus hotels. As a matter of fact I have been a diamond member as long as I can remember. I have stayed as long as 7 months at a time in Best Western hotels. I have always been treated professionally, courteously and usually with warm welcome. Not only do I stay in these hotels but I put my construction crews in them as well. WE'LL THAT WAS NOT THE CASE AT THIS place. WHEN I WENT INSIDE I THOUGHT I HAD MY RESERVATION THERE. MY 3 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS WITH ME AND SHE HAD TO GO TO THE BATHROOM. SHE WAS CRYING AND TRYING TO HOLD IT. I TOLD HER WE WERE ALMOST THERE. KNOWING THAT IN CALIFORNIA IT'S ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND A BATHROOM WITHOUT A LOCK AND KEY, I PRESSED ON TO THE HOTEL. ONLY TO BE TURNED DOWN BY THE SNOTTY FRONT DESK CLERK. EVEN REMAINING CALM AND PLEADING WITH HER. EVEN STATING THAT I WAS A LOYAL CUSTOMER AND THAT THIS YEAR ALONE I HAVE COLLECTED OVER 45OK POINTS. I WAS TREATED LIKE A STRANGER. THERE WAS SOME OTHER BIG GUY STANDING BEHIND THE COUNTER I'M ASSUMING THE MANAGER) SAID NOTHING TO HELP. I WILL NEVER GIVE THAT HOTEL MY BUSINESS....EVER. THAT WAS THE MOST HUMILIATING THING TO BE TURNED AWAY WHILE YOUR 3 YEAR OLD SCREAMS AND CRIES BECAUSE WE COULDN'T USE THE RESTROOM THERE. UNBELIEVABLE!!! TREATED LIKE DIRT EVEN AFTER I GAVE HER MY DIAMOND CARD. MY FAMILY DESERVES BETTER. YOU WILL NEVER HAVE MY BUSINESS NOR ANYONE I KNOW, I WILL MAKE DAMN SURE OF IT. PATHETIC PLACE....GOOD LUCK IF...
Read moreWe made the best of it. The rooms and location were on point for the price that I paid during my last visit which was $52 per night. Due to me being too optimistic & leaving a higher review and that review getting over 1k views, the price was boosted to upwards of $100+ per night. I don’t believe that is fair. I believe that for $50-60 per night this is a decent hotel, but we did not feel like we were staying in luxury. I used to live near the area while in the military and we chose to stay here to come back and revisit all of our old hangout spots. There was a construction going on here at the time and right outside of our window so we weren’t able to sleep in on vacation but that is excusable. You’re a short distance from the local Walgreens & Starbucks, but the trains run right across the street and can be loud or slow your daily travels down depending on the direction you’re choosing to go that day. You’re a short drive to the edge of Oceanside town which is a plus. This place is awkwardly positioned off the highway intersection. We still managed to be able to make our way to the markets, restaurants, and shops. Breakfast was decent. Meat, eggs, potatoes. (Bacon every other day). I couldn’t complain. The hotel staff was kind. The location is not safe to walk around. The parking felt safe but only in the front in the well lit parts. Slightly safer than at some hotels I’ve been to in the area but that isn’t saying a lot for Oceanside. We were able to leave by vehicle and catch sunset in Oceanside on a few different days. It only took 5mins or so to make the drive and go relax by the beach if you beat the rush hour. I wanted to take the time to review this place because when I stayed here I was a little unsure to be honest. Finding a place started to get stressful, but I will be returning here in the future for casual trips, just as long as the price goes back and stays at a reasonable rate. It is not worth $100+ per night. We were traveling with no kids and trying to make the best of our situation. I wouldn’t recommend staying here with kids or...

They want you to "let the Oceanside inn be your gateway to an unforgettable vacation" unforgettable alright - especially when they kick a disabled family with a seven year old out on a Friday night at 9 pm after they complain about their pool cleaner leaving stains on their car which can also be seen all over the floor next to the car - yes we have pictures!
All we were asking for was a car wash, but instead, we were asked to leave and they threatened to call the police if we did not. Within ten minutes, five police cars were on site. I do not think they were for us, as they did not approach us for our side of the story, regardless, we were frightened. The owner - a very rude arrogant man- claimed we threatened him when we said we would include that in the review. I asked for his name which he said he would give after we checked out, when we returned with the keys, this manager was hiding and the younger assistants name tag had also magically disappeared as had all the other staff members.
As other reviews have mentioned, the office staff are very rude and arrogant, they claim you will get two queen beds, instead you get two doubles and lots of bugs, the walls are paper thin, they clean the rooms in two stages, so if you want to come back in the afternoon for a nap, forget it, they've taken all the towels and left the room unclean, then they come back after 4pm and finish the room.
Breakfast is mediocre, they have the "make your own waffle" machines (four minis, not large round), but they are not for the guests to use, they are guarded so you have to place your order with the staff and they ask how many small ones you want and make them. Scrambled Eggs are dry and crumbly.
For the price you pay, you can do a lot better than a hotel that throws a family out on the streets on a Friday night- you could get one that actually upholds their end of the contract.
I have called best western, who are as disgraced as we are about this and will also be...
