It really pangs to me write this review, as I like to support local businesses and prefer not to leave poor reviews. However, I've had a couple experiences here that lacked professionalism and I feel it's important to share. Last year I chose to stop coming to this establishment because a man that worked there, who was giving me a massage, asked me to travel with him abroad (during my service). He later found me on Facebook and messaged me that he was leaving back to China and wanted to talk to me about my travel plans. This made me incredibly uncomfortable, and I don't understand how anything I had done would permit this type of behavior (aside from sitting in a massage chair and entertaining a kind conversation).
I recently returned to Bamboo Creek, as there are excellent practitioners there, but was very disappointed with their lack of courtesy. During my massage this evening members of the staff were talking very loudly. It is a small place, so these conversations carry. Yes, I was the only client there, but it made it extremely difficult to relax. The woman who massaged me was kind of enough to ask them to quiet their voices in the beginning, but they continued to talk very boisterously the entire time I was receiving service. If I knew my experience would be like this I wouldn't have come.
When I brought this to the attention of the staff there, they said sorry then laughed at me.
I really hope that this review will act as message to improve the professionalism of this establishment. Again, there are great practitioners there. I am an Ojai local and have had a fair amount of good experiences at Bamboo Creek, but there definitely needs to be some training around appropriate...
Read moreI'm sorry but I gotta speak up ... that was a rough way to spend over $200 (it was a bday present for me- two sweet combos for my hubby and me). Have you seen the snl skit about the alien abduction? The one girl had a completely different experience than the others (it's hilarious if you haven't you should). That's how I felt at this place. Reviews seemed good (and I read them!) so I took a chance and then had arguably the most mid massage I've ever had. Hubby got done with his and said the same thing before I could even ask him! Communication barrier was a real problem. We asked for our own rooms (as opposed to the same room cuz 4 people in one room makes for a lot of noise- she nodded and said yes and then put us in the same room). We were on the table 15 minutes waiting for the massage to start- hubby had to get dressed and go see what was going on. The gals talked a bit during the massage but not much I'm happy to report. They both had poor massage technique all around. My gal didn't massage my fingers, toes, thighs or face. When I'd try to communicate she'd just say ok and continue doing her thing. The door was left open during our massage! Also website says 78 for sweet combo and guy on the phone said 78 but they charged me 88 in person and wouldn't budge. After all this I still tipped 18% each (cuz err on the side of kindness right?? or maybe I'm a glutton for punishment?) and to be honest, they didn't seem happy...
Read moreI've read a few reviews here about professionalism, and just wanted to chime in. This place looked like a good deal from their prices. However, during the massage the two therapists were talking to each other the whole time. They actually didn't know that I understand Chinese. One kept asking the other how much time there was left, and they also made a judgmental comment about something specific about my boyfriend's appearance. I didn't let on that I understood them, but the whole time I was extremely uncomfortable with them constantly talking and the specific things they were saying, also including that it was clear they didn't want to be there. I want to flag this especially because there were other comments about the quality of their...
