Westridge Market IGA — Local services in Ojai

Giving westridge 3 stars (ok, I changed to 4) because there is room for improvement and I don't always believe or trust the 5 star reviews although I'm sure these reviews are all trustworthy :).

In regards to a review - Westridge is a boutique store and in a way representative of Ojai to visitors. People love Ojai, they should love our stores. While transition wasn't likely too simple or straighforward when the decided to open this larger location in the center or town, there have been some times when I wished the employees might be more responsible to customers instead of a private conversation between eachother, and there are times when I wish the produce wash fresher or kept in better supply, and they did have a problem on our hottest days this year with a terrible smell From the back, but here I am today, probably my third day this week, picking up something good to eat from the deli counter, appreciating that I don't have to go to another store for my supplies, I like the way they have transition the inside, it's comfortable, everything is clean, they have more customers than any store in this location has EVER seen in the last 20 years I've been in Ojai, and best of all, I had not one, not two, not three, but FOUR employees ask if I've been helped!!! And they were actually polite. Not that they wouldn't be, but these days it's a luxury to have a younger person be polite and kit into their iPhones etc. When i went to check out, the next checker over said, I'll take you here, with a nice friendly smile on her face. OMG! It's made me forget about my not so wonderful day, and now I have a smile.. sappy? Yes, but it really is true. so, Westridge does deserve 5 stars, but I'm only giving 3, ok well 4, because they have done such great work here I'm not going to max them out at 5. Great...

Got a burger today at Westridge Market in Ojai and on it had very old rotten wilted lettuce on it. In fact the ends were black. Not sure if flies were on it but I did find some black specks on it. That really bothered me that the people cooking the food there would put that on instead of throwing it away. I hope I don't get sick on it. I feel the quality there has gone down hill so I called them up and spoke to the manager in the meat department who is a great guy. He totally agreed with me and will monitor it better to make sure that someone else does not get old rotten lettuce on their hamburger. If I did not tell them, maybe they would still be doing that kind of stuff which is bad for everyone! My stomach is sensitive to old rotten stuff after having cancer 5 months ago. Now I have to be more cautious when getting food from a restaurant...

Beware if you are shopping at either location in Ojai. This is the 3rd time I have purchased an item (always way overpriced and expensive) that has been expired for some time. This week it was fresh squeezed orange juice that was already 9 days expired when purchased.I called the store and they were pleasant enough but no offer to reimburse me or anything. I will not be shopping there again and I seriously suggest you be very careful if you shop there and always make sure to keep...
