Izakaya Full Moon — Restaurant in Ojai

I seen Instagram post of this sushi restaurant in Ojai. I looked at the reviews on Google maps. I work 3 to 7 days a week here in Ojai. I made it after 2 very hard days of working to treat myself to dinner. It was a busy Friday night. There special hand written menu had chicken heart Skewers. This is a home cooked comfort food for me growing up my dad made them. They were delicious and perfectly cooked. I also had Carpaccio Tai Snapper & Salmon, Shiitake skewers, miso soup, ONIGIRI (Rice ball) Spicy cod roe. Everything was fresh and full of delicious favors. I was full and beyond satisfied with the whole experience. I had a friend ask me to get food togo before I left. The service was friendly and didn't wait to long for anything. Also the music playing was fantastic for the perfect Atmosphere. 🎶 I will definitely be going back...

Wow! All the dishes we ordered were spot on and their fish broth ramen is a must (daily special and so if it's offered, definitely order it). We started with the Goma Kampachi where the amberjack is perfectly paired with sesame sauce, scallions, and wasabi. The Negima was perfectly cooked (super moist chicken thigh), but slightly under seasoned. The Beef Tataki was solid. But as mentioned before, the fish broth ramen was the star of the meal. The broth had amazing depth of umami with subtle flavors throughout your palette. The ramen noodles and clams were perfectly cooked.

Really unfortunate service. We drove in to Ojai for my birthday and planned on eating here. They said no reservations so we showed up early. Somehow they magically accepted phone reservations ahead of us and told us to come back (even though no one was waiting in line, there was empty tables and apparently no reservations were allowed). We waited for a full hour before they told us to go home because they had no room for us. There was nothing open for food in Ojai by the time they told us they couldn’t sit us.
