I wanted to get a jump start on my fitting/tailoring I may need.
A little description as to what I personally look like: I stand 5ā8 I weigh in at 360 pounds I am a avid gym goer & power lifter. I have large strong legs/thighs & a big rear end to help carry it. I have broad shoulders and an ever broader chest
When I buy clothes I have to have them tailored because of my measurements. In denim I can wear a 40 around my waist. But because of my large legs/thighs and butt it had to then go to a 44 with a cinched belt.
I am a large fella. I understand this.
As to my attire - I was wearing black athletic shorts A white hat And a tan shirt that had a brand label on the chest and back that said āKinda fit - kinda fatā In an all inclusion rainbow print
I was only going to get a vest & still walked out empty handed. I found a vest that worked. But when I was approached & asked if I needed any further assistance I immediately knew I was not going to get any TRUE help. I knew this because the gentleman had ROLLED HIS EYES AT ME when I asked to get measured. I only asked to be measured because I had already tried in what I thought was my pant size and come to find out that was not the case. I have never been to the menās warehouse to know if certain sizes meant something different here. Because a 44x30 in store did not even go to my thighs. So instead of flooding the fitting room with multiple pairs of pants and getting frustrated I asked for help. He reluctantly agreed to measure me and when he began - he started measure me right there. In front of everyone. Did not give me a chance to put my bag down or anything.
Not only did I find this unprofessional seeing as other people I witness getting measure went to a different part of the store but I found it incredibly insulting that he started measuring my STOMACH and not my hips/waist area. I tried to tell him that I wonāt wear the pants around my stomach. That Iād wear them how I do my denim pants and shorts. He quickly met me with
āThis. Is. How. Our. Pants. Are. Supposed. To. Be. Worn.ā
As if talking to me like I was ignorant. Extremely off putting & unprofessional yet again. But it doesnāt stop there.
He then tells me āYouāre a 57 thereās nothing that will fit you here.ā
I found this deeply disturbing because of a few things.
knowing I did my research before hand and had noticed that the Menās Wearhouse Carrieās up to size 60 x 34 in the brand I was specifically looking for.
I had seen a larger 60 in the store (assuming a customer return based in the tags and hand written SKU Numbers) and hadnāt thought that I was my size. Like I said - I normally wear a 44. So I didnāt think a 60 would be my size.
there was no offer of āordering it online and having it shipped to meā and there certainly was not a āletās get you that 60 and start doing some measurements so we can get the fit you want/desire/require.ā
He just stood there staring at me. And when I asked if it would change the size to something I could wear if I wore them how I wear my normal pants - he yet again met me with immediate negativity.
āNo. Not how our pants are supposed to sit.ā
So what happened? Was I met with someone who hates their job? Absolutely. Was I fat shamed in public in the middle of your store? 100%. Did I receive any additional help or offer for tailoring? Not at all.
Do I 100% feel as if I was āhelpedā by someone who has a personal vendetta and/or dislike/hate for the LGBTQIA+ community? Yes. Full heartedly.
I feel as if the gentleman saw my shirt and wanted nothing more than to get me out of the store as fast as possible. I fully intend on posting a review on the entire experience and what happened on Google and other platforms.
Had I known that the Mens Wearhouse was going to not only homophobic, fat phobic, but down right rude and unhelpful - I would not have given it any time of day.
Sadly I do not know the gentlemenās name. He didnāt disclose it to me when I asked what it was. I saw no name tag and saw no...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe experience was horrible. I got measured for the suit 3 months in advance for the wedding I was in. The wedding was Saturday afternoon. On Thursday, my suit was ready for pickup and I went to pick up the suit. The suit did not fit at all.
The jacket was way too small: The shoulders were small, the sleeves went only to mid forearm (roughly 5 inches above my wrist) and I could not button the jacket. The only measurement that was correct was the torso length.
The pants did not fit. The waist was the correct size, but the leg length was 6 inches too short and constricted my calves.
Both of these pieces had to be reordered and I had to go in the next day. On Friday I went in a second time.
The jacket did not fit right away, but was close enough that it could be altered in the store. The problem was that the tailor was not in and I would have to wait until the morning of the wedding to pick up the jacket.
The pants did not fit at all and could not be tailored to fit. I was told the only way I would have usable pants for the wedding is if I drive across town to another Men's Wearhouse store, pick them up and have them tailored at the original store the next morning. After driving to a second Men's Wearhouse (their tailor was also not in), I had all the pieces to the suit but nothing fit me and the wedding was the next day.
The morning of the wedding (Day 3 of trying to get my suit) I arrived at the original Men's Wearhouse store as they opened (with the pants from the 2nd store). I walked in and the customer service was not good. The employee who was supposed to help me kept walking away to help other people. They initially said they couldn't have the pants ready until the afternoon (when the wedding reception would have started) but after explaining the situation they reluctantly took the pants. I got the pants after 10ish minutes and they fit.
When the employee gave me the garment bag, I asked about the suit jacket that I was suppose to pick up as well. I was told he was going to look for it and he wondered off to help other customers. He approached me 4 additional times asking what I was waiting for and I kept saying "you said you were looking for my suit jacket, I need that for the wedding". After 50 minutes of waiting, Another employee got involved and the two of them both came out with separate suit jackets both claiming they found my jacket. We sorted it out and the jacket was usable, but the lining was not fully sewn in and kept peaking out of the sleeve, but it was manageable.
The suit quality was not all that good, but was rental quality. The shirt was itchy and you could see through it.
Needless to say, after 1 store measuring me in Kansas City, and driving to 2 separate stores in Omaha for 3 days to get a usable suit, I was not happy with the quality, service, and fit of the suit. Especially since the rental was over $200 and it made me miss all of the morning wedding festivities and gave unneeded stress to the already...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA recent visit to the Dodge Street Menās Wearhouse was lengthy, tedious, and generally unpleasant.
After wandering the store for nearly 20 minutes in search of an available associate to assist us, we finally found someone to take measurements and give suggestions. After that 3 minute exchange, our helper disappeared to work with other incoming customers and we were left to wait for another 20 minutes just to try the suits on. This on-and-off abandonment continued but we were understanding; we quickly noticed only two of the four floor workers were actively engaging with customers on this busy holiday weekend. Since our attendant was busy with other customers, we decided to ask the idle workers for help finding a shoe size. They seemed annoyed when we interrupted their loud conversation about sports and did not respond to our questions with any words, or even eye contact, then left us the (wrong) pair on a table without notifying us that he had retrieved the shoes. When my partner overheard one of the associates talking about an old friend, he told the associate their relationship and the worker responded with something along the lines of, āheās a douche.ā In addition to the inefficiency and unprofessionalism, the only tailor there was incredibly rude and overwhelmed. While it was busy, there is no excuse for having taking the wrong measurements three separate times for each suit or being extremely unapologetic and demanding to a customer- not to mention the careless measurements marked on the suits which make me nervous for the final result. Lastly, during checkout, a technical problem occurred and the manager had to come out to fix it. Seconds away from swiping my card for a price almost equal to my monthly rent, a disheveled woman in sweats without a bra comes to the register to use her managerial clearance to bypass the issue while she complained to another worker about how sweaty and hot she had gotten- the cherry on top of the ridiculously unprofessional experience with the workers there.
It is our own fault for staying throughout the purchase. We were too patient and understanding in the beginning and by the time we were fed up, it was too late too leave. I must say, the older, taller bald man and younger man who just returned from the military were extremely helpful and professional. They were holding up the entire store on their own, without the help of their curt/cocky coworkers, and the two of them do not deserve this poor review. We spent a total of over two hours in the store. This will be our last purchase at...
