I absolutely CANNOT stand Best Buy anymore. Their phone customer service is terrible if you can make it through to them after waiting on hold for a half hour only to be transferred again, their in store service is horrible because they want to do nothing but argue with you, but that's only if you can actually find help in the first place, they're just an outright joke anymore.
I was in their store debating between getting an iPad Air 2, a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2, or a Microsoft Surface as all three were on sale. I was in the Samsung portion of the store looking at the tablet with an employee standing there looking at the time and completely ignoring me. Finally he reaches under the counter, grabs his coat, and walks off while continuing to ignore me. So much for that... so I find an employee and ask him about the Surface and it quickly becomes clear he has no clue and is just reading off of the tag which I am capable of doing myself. So finally I decide to go with what I know and get an iPad, especially because I found a price match that was cheaper than the other options. I wasn't able to make it into the store for the Black Friday sale so I originally tried to buy one online but it conveniently said they were out of stock... till the day after the sale and they're back at full price. So when I finally get a chance to go into the store and have a price match for Target, they won't match prices Black Friday through Cyber Monday... arrrghh. Ok, so I wait a little longer and find that Target has it once again on sale and I can get it for $402 with a Target store coupon. Once again I go back into the store and they won't honor that either!!!! According to their manager they, "reserve the right to refuse any price matches." This is after I sat there and watched him tell the customer in front of me how he worked for Verizon before and left because their customer service was terrible and went to Best Buy because they were so customer friendly and he was empowered to go above and beyond to do the right thing. I finally told them to shove it and I will buy the iPad from Nebraska Furniture Mart. I can't believe they were arguing over a price that was still higher than their advertised price on Black Friday. The only reason I was even considering getting it from them this time is because I had a gift card for them and thought that I would use it towards this.
The sad thing is this is not the first time I have had problems with them. When Best Buy Mobile first came out they were great and they've slipped into being obsolete as well. I had purchased their phone buy back plans when they offered them only to find out that when I was ready to trade in my phone they no longer honored that program and would only offer a refund of what I had originally paid.
They're a horrible corporation that is slowly dying not because the electronics store is becoming obsolete, but because they run a horrible business model with horrid customer service and...
Read moreI usually don't leave reviews, actually I never leave any. Best Buy and this specific location are lucky enough to be my first. I have just moved into a new apartment and have been to this location 4 or 5 times in the last 2 months. Consistently they have poor customer service and poor customer acknowledgment. 3 of those times I went and I needed an employee to grab something for me and I had to search for one, after finding one, they either dragged their feet or they had to search for someone with a key. These employees are too lazy to acknowledge and help customers so if that's something you're looking for, I would look else where. Today though was by far the worst experience. On a side note. Before I went in today I got on their website and talked with an employee and told them the exact same thing I'm about to tell you. She said that with the incident I was in and how bad the cord was, I would be covered. I would just have to go in to exchange the device. My cat has chewed one of the power cords to one of my connected home devices. Luckily I bought a protection/replacement warranty. Ha. I was wrong. After bringing it in I was told before the box was open or my warranty was looked over that, "there probably isn't anything we can do." But I am lucky enough that she asked one of the geek squad members. He said the exact same thing, all still before the box was open or the warranty was looked over. After finally opening the box and looking at the device and the warranty they told me that my $130 device was not covered, and that I should have gotten a different warranty to cover what happened to mine. Wow... glad I paid for 2 year warranty that is useless. The employee was then struggling to get this device in it's original box, like the way I brought it in. After a couple of minutes of her pulling it out of the box and putting it in and slamming the lid on the device I told her the device was in the wrong way. She was VERY rude and talking down to me saying no the power cable is blocking it from going in the box the correct way. I got tired of seeing her struggle and said it was fine I will fix it in the car. She was kind enough to offer me a bag to carry it out in and told me to have a good day. When I got back in the car... curious to see if I was right, I opened the mess of a box turned the device and shut the lid. Hmm I seemed to be right. Safe to say I will never step foot in this Best Buy again, and probably never shop there either. It's sad because the store is fairly nice and in a good location, I hope if you find yourself here, you have a much better...
Read moreHorrible management & customer service.Worst experience I have had at any retailer.
My children were purchasing about $150 worth of items at the checkout as we waited for our food order next door. For convenience, we grouped everything together so there were not multiple transactions for the cashier.
"Jason" was the cashier. The children gave me their money and I paid Jason cash. While Jason had the register open I asked that the change include 5s and 1s so I could distribute it back to the kids properly. Jason said yes. He then closed the register and handed me a $20 bill. I reminded Jason that I needed the change I requested. He replied, "We don't open the register after it is closed." I asked, "You agreed to give me 5s and 1s......and what do you do if you give someone the wrong change?" Jason stated, "The register is closed and I am not going to open it ." Keep in mind that I was kind and professional, and not making an outrageous request....I worked retail many years ago and I know it is not the most enjoyable job.
The children and I walked all of the merchandise to the customer service counter, handed the receipt to the clerk for a full refund, and requested a manager for the purpose of relaying my experience. The customer service clerk was speaking to Jason and giggling about the situation over the radio equipment they wear. He then called "Alex" the manager.
I told Alex about the 45 mintutes my children and I wasted in the store, and how an out of line cashier cost his store our business. Alex replied, "What do you want me to do about it? You already got your money back." Quite shocked, I said, "I look forward to posting my experience with your Best Buy location online. Have a nice day." Alex then stated, "Oh, so you are threatening me now?" I turned and walked away with my children.
I immediately hit record on my phone when I saw the childish giggling between the employees, and I have posted the entire event with the manager, "Alex", on facebook for my 3k+ friends to see.
I was in Best Buy in my sweats after training hard at the gym. Most of the time I wear a suit and tie as I run my tech companies and conduct seminars. The three people I dealt with all looked to be under 20 years old and acted like children playing a game, and were judging this book by the wrong cover.
Shame on Best Buy for giving a bunch of rude kids the keys to the store and access to the public. No wonder everyone shops online these days and this store was empty during prime...
