I was very excited to go to Roses in Onley, VA because after reviewing the online ad, I felt that it was worth the drive to receive the discounted prices shown on the website. I was disappointed in the overall experience of this store, particularly because I had to really search the store aisle by aisle to find the items on my list due to my unfamiliarity of the layout. This being my first shopping experience, I was surprised by the lack of good customer assistance. I was helped, but only after I asked several people throughout the store and kept on task until I did or did not find my choices. Needless to say, I came away with about half of my list combined with a few extras that I came across on my own. All of the employees that I encountered looked at me as if I had insulted them when I asked for their assistance. I tend to be over friendly and felt that I was not asking for anything out of the ordinary. I will say in all fairness that I was happy with the pricing of the items chosen and especially happy with my senior discount. I have diabetes and asked about the use of the rest rooms and was told that they don't have one. I questioned the cashier about "where do the employees go?" She told me they find someplace to go (within the shopping center). I said really?? Finally, she said they did have one but that it was for the employees only. Really? Why not say that from the beginning. I'm not really sure that their policy regarding bathrooms in a public store is allowed by the Labor Board and/or the State. Suffice it to say, I am fully aware of the store's lack of customer service, the lower quality of most of the items, and the employee's lack of or desire to do anything above and beyond their expectation for receiving a paycheck. The store is under-staffed for the size of the store and there is way too much lollygagging among the cashiers. Walmart is about 5 minutes down the road, and may have to be my retail store of choice since I am familiar with Walmart, their pricing and location of...
Read moreThis store looks nice on the outside, but it is a completely different story on the inside. For whatever reason, the restrooms were closed on the main floor, so I had to walk up two LONG flights of stairs to get there, which was in the staff break room. Since I have a walking disability, it made me feel like I could fall down the stairs and get a concussion at any moment. Also, the bathroom was very dirty and three out of the four stalls were out of order. Many of the items in the store are of a very low quality and seem overpriced, however, this could be due to today's economy. I also saw a mouse running around; gross! I will come back here only if the inside of the store gets a BIG improvement in...
Read moreThis store is always dirty and messy. Most of the products are of low quality. My last few experiences at this store have made me decide to never go back. Each time I have dealt with rude staff, it seems only because they hate working there and have an attitude towards everyone. My last visit there I tried to buy gift cards and was told each card would have to be purchased separately and with cash only also they attempted to add a fee to the cards (these cards didn't have a purchase fee). There are no signs anywhere in the store that state this is their policy. Walmart down the road was happy to take my money for the exact same gift cards with no purchase fee as it's suppose to be. I won't be going...
