My first time visiting, based on a friend’s suggestion to meet there and catch up. I liked the cute small-business feel when I walked in, and the cashier was friendly, explaining that drinks and food are ordered at the opposite end of the counter — a nice touch. Unfortunately, things went downhill from there. When it came time to order, the barista seemed annoyed that I didn’t already know this shop doesn’t brew a pot of decaf or leave cream out for customers (“it takes up counter space”). Clearly, I’d made the rookie mistake of expecting hospitality with my coffee. Though he offered to make a decaf Americano, his tone and demeanor were anything but welcoming. I felt like a second-class customer just for ordering coffee a little differently. The drink was bitter and light on cream. The bagel with cream cheese was fine, but honestly, I could’ve made the same thing at home for less — and without the side of attitude. I won’t be back. There are plenty of local coffee spots where the coffee’s good and customers are treated with warmth and...
Read moreI’ve been coming here for years, and it used to be one of my favorite spots in town. Sadly, the quality and atmosphere have declined.
The coffee, once excellent, now tastes old and stale — like the beans sit too long. Most of the experienced baristas are gone, and there’s constant staff turnover, including new managers. The espresso shots just aren’t made with the same care anymore.
Gift and book prices have also increased. I understand rising costs, but at this point, it's starting to seem greedy.
To make matters worse, they don’t honor their 30-day return/replacement policy for defective products, and some management can come across as dismissive or on a power trip.
Double-check items and prices before buying. Many of the items they sell are online for much cheaper. It’s disappointing to see a place I once loved lose what made it special — I truly hope they can turn...
Read moreIn my opinion, this is the coolest place in Oregon City for sure! The vibe of the store is so friendly, and it's a great combination of bookstore and coffee shop. From what I've tried, their drinks and treats taste good, but the books are even better! They have a wide selection, though they have a notable focus on pride, social justice, and awesomely enough, some "witchy" stuff such as tarot and astrology. I wish they had more magick-related books, but I cannot complain about the diversity of their selection! Today I bought a super cute Japanese-themed tarot pack, and a poetry memoir. In addition, the employees are very nice, even if service might be a little bit slow when the place gets packed, they'll be sure to give you the attention...
