I have been to a lot of salons and this is the least customer friendly one of them all. This salon has a security system that says out loud what doors are being opened. When I walked in the system said "Front Door" and I greeted the hair stylists working front desk check ins. I said hello and the 2 girls doing check ins looked up from their phones and then looked back down without acknowledging me. I then said "Hi I have a 1pm appointment" and was ignored again. I stood and waited until one of the girls sighed and asked for my name. I gave her my name, she pulled up my appointment, and told me to sit down. My friend who also had an appointment came in later and he was greeted and one of the front desk girls asked him if he had an appointment and checked him in without ignoring him. My hairstylist came out and called someone else's name multiple times and then asked me who I was. I said "I'm not Erin my name is Corrin" my hairstylist said "I think your my client today let's take you back" she was very unprepared and had no clue that I was there for a standard haircut and style even though I filled out everything online and the salon was very empty for a weekend. My hair stylest asked for assistance from the front desk stylists while doing my hair and I eneded up with lopsided hair. While I was getting blow dried a man walked in the side door and was greeted very kindly by my stylist and she got him checked in while working on my hair and the front desk ignored him. I paid about 70 dollars for a simple hair trim and blow-dry, was treated horribly by the stylists working the front desk, and spent money for a bad hair job. I think my hairstylist was great but the stylist that was helping her had no clue what she was doing and has 0 customer service skills for check ins. I think your experience will depend on your stylist and who is doing check ins that day. My friend who also got his hair cut here said staff was rude to him as well but his stylist was decently nice. The building itself was fairly clean with pretty ok seating. The parking lot is small and run down. Even though this is half a salon and half a barber shop I would only reccomend coming here if you are a man. From my experience and seeing other customer interactions the men in the salon got treated kinder than the women did. I added 1 star because the salon sent me a refund to me...
Read moreI LOVE ERIN at Salon 21!!! She is friendly, professional, and very, VERY good at what she does. I call her the âbest kept secretâ in the Utah Valley salon world and I refuse to go anywhere else. She has been my stylist for just over a year now and I look forward to my appointments like it's Christmas every 6-8 weeks!
A little background on me: I used to have no self esteem. In that place, I made a lot of painful choices. Since healing from that, I place a HUGE value on how I feel about myself and how I look plays an important role in how I feel. It might sound crazy, but when I feel beautiful, I respect myself more and I make better choices. And my life is now awesome! :)
My hair greatly impacts my daily âfeeling beautifulâ, so I am SUPER picky and spent FIVE YEARS looking for a stylist. I never went back to the same person twice because with every haircut, I always felt, âI like this-and-this, but I don't like this, this, AND this.â Getting my hair cut was stressful since it always involved crossed fingers, a wish, and a prayer it would look ârightâ - but it never did.
Then I found Salon 21 - specifically Erin. Oh. My. WOW!! The initial haircut I LOVED and it even looked good as it grew out until my next appointment. I rescheduled for the first time in my life! It was just ârightâ! There is something about a quality haircut that makes me feel like a million dollars. I'll wear thrift store clothes and Walmart $1 flip-flops, but with a haircut from Erin, I could meet the Queen of England with total confidence.
We never do the same look twice (my preference; I like to change things up!) and she has successfully transitioned me through different shades of blonde - I even went brown for a bit! - an A-line, short and spiky, a faux hawk, and any other sassy, head-turning look I want. I've brought in pictures saying, âI want thatâ and she works it in or talks me out of it (a perm...and she was so right!).
If you want to relax, laugh, feel like the most special person in the world, or even cry â Erin's chair at Salon 21 is a safe space where magic happens. I can't recommend her high enough. Just make an appointment and experience the âbest kept secretâ...
Read moreIâve been going here for a little while now and itâs always a great experience! If there was a way to give 6 stars, I would. Everyone is fun, stylish, uplifting, and supportive of your vision and desired look and willing to help you get there in the best way. Kiki is always fun and very skilled and experienced. Xavier chops up some mad awesome cuts! I got to talk with James, the owner, more than onceâa great person! Yes, I have my favorites, but Iâve worked with a few people and have loved my experience every time.
If there are reviews of bad experiences, I can promise you they didnât open up and communicate with them about it. Everyone at this place is a professionalâif you donât like your experience, let them know, and theyâre always 110% ready to help you be happy with your experience! If you say nothing, theyâll just assume youâre happy because thatâs what they aim for. If youâre respectfully open about how youâd like your hair better or what you expected, theyâre totally open to having that discussion.
Thereâs a very cool atmosphere, great people doing all sorts of styles from contemporary to old skool, and there are people from all different walks of life, which brings a much needed freshness to Orem and a great range of diverse perspectives. Like a great team, everyone is there to help you have your best hair day!
I was sad when the place Iâd been going to before shut down, but it turned out even better since I discovered this place, which I may never have done if that didnât happen! Great people who are sincerely interested in you and what makes you happy. Couldnât have found a...
