A friend of mine had recommended Fleet Feet to me and spoke of the store very highly. I have had a multitude of injuries/surgical procedures to both of my ankles over the years and I have found it very difficult to find comfort with any shoe I’ve tried. Recently, I had a crush injury to my ankle and did not have the proper support in my footwear so I called Fleet Feet and spoke with Matt Tanner. Matt explained what the process is for finding a correct shoe for my feet and made an appointment for me.
I arrived at the store for my appointment and Matt was the employee who greeted me. He went right to work scanning/measuring my feet as well as having me do a sample of how I walk. After his analysis was complete he showed me the results. I was very surprised at what he showed me. I have never had an analysis done like that before and how Matt explained it to me was a completely new aspect of how my feet are working.
I had a particular shoe that I wanted to buy but Matt asked me to try what he felt was best and then go from there. There was no pressure of any kind involved, He just wanted to make sure that I was comfortable and satisfied with what I was getting.
Matt showed me several different kinds of shoes. The one that I wanted actually did not feel good on my feet. It was just not a good fit. The top pick that Matt had me try was like walking on air. My feet felt immediate relief and support. I was completely surprised and shocked.
I would have never believed it if it had not happened. My feet felt great. Matt explained a few things about the shoe and showed me that his knowledge base was so vast when it comes to his profession. You can tell that Matt cares about his job, but more so, his customers. I feel that Matt truly cared about helping me feel better and making my feet/ankles feel and be supported.
If you have ever wondered about Fleet Feet all I can tell you is try it. There is no pressure at the store. The employees are all very friendly and caring. They have a wide selection of products and the amount of knowledge they possess is beyond impressive.
I will be a customer of Fleet Feet for the rest of my life. I have never had a experience like this when it comes to having someone care so much that I got what my feet/ankles needed. Thank you Matt Tanner - you are a...
Read moreIt’s possible I just experienced an off day at Fleet Feet, but I had an extremely awkward, fever dream of an experience at this location.
I’ve previously purchased shoes at Fleet Feet with my husband, and came in to replace my old and officially retired Hoka Bondi 7s. I had heard the Bondi 8’s were a much different feel, so I wanted to try them in person.
When I first walked in the store was silent and I was not greeted. The three employees working just looked at me, so I started explaining that I was there to purchase a new set of Bondis, as my old Bondi 7s were well worn. I started working with one of the associates who scanned my feet for any changes, but recommended a full size larger than my usual size due to one of my feet on the scan. I currently have a foot injury that is causing some swelling, which I attempted to explain. I have been running for 15 years, and I have always worn the same size, being measured at different stores over the years.
The associate brought out 3 different shoes to try on, all in the larger size. There was a moment after they helped put them on and adjust the laces that the associate just stared at me with no direction. It felt so awkward.
While walking around, it was clear that all of the shoes I tried on felt too big, and loose on my foot. The associate recommended tightening the laces, which I did, but the shoes were still slipping off of my heels. The associate then brought out a shoe that was a half size larger than my normal size, and it was still too large and loose on my foot after tightening the laces more than I typically would.
I reminded the associate what my normal shoe size was, and they expressed surprise and said they must not have heard me and hadn’t been paying attention. It was bizarre and I felt extremely uncomfortable while shopping. I left shortly after this experience.
I had intended to purchase a pair of shoes, but I ended up walking out without any and plan on just ordering them online.
Based on all of the other positive reviews, I’m going to assume I went at a bad time or on a bad day, but I’m also unlikely to return to Fleet Feet to purchase my...
Read moreBeing in this plaza frequently, I often forget this place exists. With my particularities towards the shoes I know and love, I often buy online, where I feel I can get the best prices with no pressures of sales.
With that said, I made a quick stop to this shop on Friday looking for a particular brand and model. They did not have what I was looking for, and I would have left, no big deal, but I figured while I was there, I could see what out was out there.
While there still exists a level of sales pressure, for example, they are waiting on you, you feel more obligated to buy than you otherwise would, I felt I could walk out anytime empty handed with only a little let down from the staff.
Nevertheless, there were 2 things I enjoyed about my experience:
Customer Experience - for the most part, I felt listened to. I knew what kind of shoe I wanted and even if they didn't have the exact shoe I wanted, they were able to give me options with similar profiles. This might sound simple, almost common sense-like, but this isn't always an experience at running shoe stores. Some stores focus too heavy on what they think is best for you, some stores just don't have a product and move you along. They met me in the middle, and I surely noticed it.
Prices - As I said, I mostly know what I like and buy online for the better pricing. In stores, there is usually a markup, but the guy actually told me one price and said they are having a sale, the product is towards the end of its life and the price he gave actually matched online, without me having to say a word. I did my due diligence after he went to the back and was pleasantly surprised at the price match without my intervention.
This honest and straightforward approach allowed me to leave with another pair of shoes and a...
