TL;DR - Store didn't open on time, employee lied about price over the phone previous day, but the only place in town to have specific item.
This store only gets two stars for at least being the only place in town (to my knowledge) for having the product I was looking for. When you own a business, if you set operating hours, it should be obvious to stick to them and get there before time to open the doors. Sure, I understand life happens and issues come up, but to keep a prospective customer waiting 20 minutes past opening is unacceptable. No big deal, I let it slide.
HOWEVER, what I WON'T let slide is being lied to. I called the day before a specific item was set to release to ask if they'd have them in the following morning, and when they said they would I asked how much it would be, I was told a specific price which was pretty much the MSRP, which I was happy to pay. I get there this morning (9/20/19), and when they FINALLY show up to open the store, I explain who I was and the gentleman seemed to know what I was talking about, it even sounded like the person I talked to on the phone yesterday.
As I'm about to pay for the item, he tells me the price and I internally flip out as it was marked up nearly $40 above MSRP. And I was given the general 'this is what they're currently going for' line, when clearly there were places online selling the same thing for cheaper prices. However, after an awful online ordering experience when it comes to TCG items, I prefer to buy them directly in the store. After calling some of the major retailers to find out they didn't have this item, I decide to bite the bullet and pay the extra. Read moreHad the displeasure of dealing with Mr. Nate Lawrence recently. Thought I'd share just the latest batsheet message (see attached). First, let's talk about his overinflated ego, and seeming obsession with his supposed sales, which he drastically exaggerates. Nate claims to ship in excess of HALF A MILLION PACKAGES ANNUALLY. Let's break that down. Nate is claiming to ship at minimum 1369 packages daily, on average, 365 days a year. If Nate works 10 hour days, 7 days a week, he's shipping 140 packages an hour. If he's got three full time shippers, this is still an insane amount to ship. Possible? Sure. Likely? No, not really. Especially given that he has no devoted e-commerce website, and not that many products listed on ebay or Amazon. Could he be selling that many single cards on some third party website? Sure, that is not out of the realm of possibility, but this would be a much better stocked store if he were doing the sales volume he claims.
Now the reason I'm here. Nate claims he never received a package I shipped to him. Tracking tells a different story. Nate says he knows how this works, yet he's never heard that on ebay, if tracking indicates delivery, it is out of the seller's hands. Funny, I've known that for 20 years. He huffed and he puffed, hoping to bully me into giving him a refund. When that didn't work, he contacted ebay directly, where he was told to kick rocks.
