DO NOT SHOP HERE!!! I have made my last purchase from Menards. 3 days in a row I have had issues with them. It first started with having issues trying to pay for my stuff. When I tried to use Apple Pay, it kept asking for a pin number to a credit card that doesn't have a pin. I asked them to type the card number in manually, but they refused because of "store policy." So they made me sit there and put in an online order while I was standing at checkout with over 20 items. After charging me an extra $12 processing fee for nothing, they processed it and I was finally able to leave with my stuff. The next day, I go to return something because it didn't work, and they hassled me over a receipt that I didn't have because it was an online order. I tried to explain it was an online order, and had the order number. They finally agreed to return it "without a receipt", but little did I know they were only going to refund about 75% of the actual cost of the item. When they handed me the gift certificate showing less than what I had paid, I questioned this. The very rude customer service girl told me it was because I didn't have a physical receipt. Again I argued, and when I could tell I wasn't getting anywhere, I ripped up the gift certificate and walked out to go to Lowes( which is 10 times the store Menards will ever be.) My husband called the store back about 15 minutes later and talked to one of their managers. He explained the situation, and told her that we left the pipe, and did not walk out with the gift card. The manager told us to come back within the next couple days and she would issue a full refund back to the card we used. My husband goes back in there to get the item refunded the very next day, and was told they couldn't do it. It had to be done the day before when we originally brought the item back in. He explained that's not what the other manager told us. They argued back and forth, and finally my husband asked to speak to the General Manager. He came up, and was immediately rude. He didn't offer any assistance other than saying there was basically nothing he could do. He kept saying, " thats against our store policy." We have spent thousands of dollars in there over the last month, and they choose to lose my business over an $8 piece of pipe. He asked to either receive the money back for the pipe, or give us the pipe back. The General Manager wouldn't do either. So basically we did not get a refund, or the item we paid for. I've had several issues with Menards returns before, but this is my final straw. I would rather drive 1000 miles any direction to any other hardware store, and pay 10 times the cost of any item, than to have to step back in Menards. STAY AWAY...
Read moreFirst off, you would think that all of the previous bad reviews about the customer service would have gotten at least something changed by now, but nope. I went in for a hot water heater that I found on the website and the site said it was in stock at the Owensboro location. So I went to grab one and asked a employee for assistance in locating it (after 3 other employees walked right past me without so much as a smile) and she could not locate it and had to call someone else over to help her and said it would be just a bit, no big deal. So I wait 20 minutes and never saw her again and finally got another employee to ask about it and was told that it had been sitting up at the front for about 15 minutes. So, already frustrated that I was never told that they had brought it up there and was just left waiting for an extra 15 minutes for no reason, I headed to the front and waited in a line for the cashier. I told her that they told me that they brought it up front but I wasnt sure where exactly they meant. She then says "I need you to go look at the empty registers to try to find it" and makes me give up my place in line. So I go and I find it, not in the advertised color and sitting in a beaten up package. I bring it up and ask if they are sure they grabbed the right one because the one online was all gray, the one they brought up was white and blue. A young guy that I assume to be a manager says "well does the color matter to you? It's the right one." It was the last one so whatever, I still wanted it. Then, as I handed the cashier my cash to pay for it I noticed in small letters "as is" on it, and I asked her if that meant it wasnt returnable and she said it wasn't. So I said, nevermind, I don't want it. Then she called a manager over to undo the sell and the manager said "is there something wrong with it or something?" And I said "I dont want to be the one to find out that there is if it's not returnable" and she rolled her eyes and handed me my cash back. Seriously? What a joke. I'm a real easy guy to please and get along with and the way the employees acted was mind blowing to me. I then went to Home Depot and was greeted and asked if I needed help by every single employee I walked passed, needless to say I bought my hot water heater from there and even paid a bit more for it and I couldn't be happier. Menards just lost me as a customer for good, absolute joke of customer service and flat out rude and...
Read moreI purchased a garage door at Menards and when they loaded the door they assured me that all the hardware was inside the door I argued with the loading guy telling him i have installed a few garage doors and I've never seen that but he assured me and said he loads these all the time so we left with the door. It was winter when i purchased the door and so the unopened door set in the garage until spring and when we opened the door guess what is not there the tracks and hardware. so we contacted them explained what happened they searched their warehouse and eventually found it they said so i had someone go pick up the hardware no big deal. A few days later i started tearing down the old door went outside were the hardware was and they didn't even give me all the hardware just the track and springs so i went to the store explained that i was still missing part cables pulleys wheels and so on. Well they could not find the doors hardware so they bring me to this pallet in their warehouse and there is several boxes of hardware that they left off other peoples door. I was like wow really then the guy said just take what you need for your door, well I'm not sharing what was said after that but it was not pretty needless to say my hardware is coming in two weeks they said ,we will see about that. I can honestly say i will never buy from Menards again. and the worst of all my garage is now open until the hardware comes in. Trully an...
