I was in there shopping for nearly an hour and at least 5 salespeople walked by without offering any assistance or saying hello. I was dressed down that day (baggy sweats, overcoat as it was unusually chilly) and I could be wrong but given the looks flashed my way along with the lack of assistance, it appeared that they judged me as someone unworthy of helping or someone with no money to make purchases. Shame on them. Iām an employed, Harvard degreeād Black woman, not that that should matter but the point is that I work hard and have an income that affords me the ability to shop where Iād like to. A kind gentleman named Ernest, the only Black person I saw working, finally saw, acknowledged and assisted me. I was grateful to him, and I let him know about my ordeal and my appreciation for him. I strongly considered not making my purchases, but I was in a time crunch and had decided to go into that one store, find what I needed and leave in an hour to make it to where I had to be. There was no time to begin shopping at a different store. And Ernest influenced my decision to complete my purchase. Idk if this was racism, classism, sexism or just rude customer service, but my Tanger Polo store visit in Orlando weeks prior and all others Iāve been to, Iād experienced the opposite treatment. On 9/21I placed an online order with the cashier at this store because the item I wanted to replace wasnāt available in my size. I received no tracking number or any kind of status update on my order, but the cashier said I should receive it in 3 - 5 business days. Yesterday I called the customer service line to check the status and they told me since itās from Polo factory I would have to contact the store directly.
So, today (9/26) I called this Polo factory at Tanger Outlets to try and check the status and the representative on the phone told me I had to call back later because she was too busy with customers. Sorry, I thought I was included as being a customer as well, but I guess not. Apparently, you have to be there physically to be considered VIP. Luckily, I was able to contact the customer service number again and the gentleman was able to track down the order, but he told me it didnāt ship until 9/25 and I should receive it on 9/29 smh. I wish Polo factory and Ralphlauren.com sync there information together. I should be able to log in to my RalphLauren.com account and see the order history just like I see the items that Iāve ordered from...
